Join us this Independence Day as we honor our nation’s 250th anniversary!

The Ann Taylor Fourth of July Parade will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The parade will kick off from Kite Park and include a special performance by the Nichols Hills band before making its way throughout the community.

From 5 p.m. - 9:45 p.m. that evening, we will host a fun-filled and family-friendly celebratory event at Kite Park. Programming includes live music from the local band Mountain Smoke, several food trucks, face painting, a balloon artist and a drone show to light up the night sky.

As Independence Day approaches, the City of Nichols Hills wants to provide clarity on the “Rocket’s Red Glare Act” that was recently signed into Oklahoma law.

The new legislation permits the use of fireworks on private property in unincorporated parts of the state but does not impact Nichols Hills’ city ordinances prohibiting fireworks. Additionally, the City adopted the 2018 International Fire Code which, under Section 5601.1.3, prohibits the possession, manufacture, storage, sale, handling, and use of fireworks.

The City of Nichols Hills will continue to prohibit the use, possession and sale of fireworks within city limits regardless of the new state-level permissions.

We look forward to celebrating America's 250th anniversary with residents this Fourth of July and invite the community to enjoy the city's drone show as a safe and memorable way to commemorate the occasion.

The City of Nichols Hills is sad to share the passing of former Mayor and Councilmember Kathy Walker.

As the second female mayor in Nichols Hills history, Kathy leaves behind a legacy of leadership, public service, and volunteerism. She was a driving force behind Planet Nichols Hills, a previous local organization that planned annual Earth Day activities and encouraged environmental stewardship. Her passion for preserving and enhancing our community continues to be reflected in the pollinator garden located near Nichols Hills United Methodist Church, which was established using remaining funds from the organization.

We are grateful for Kathy’s many contributions to our city and extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.

Thanks to the generosity and support of residents, Nichols Hills Crime & Fire Prevention was able to purchase thermal imaging masks for the Nichols Hills Fire Department. These advanced pieces of equipment allow our firefighters to detect heat signatures through dense smoke, darkness, and debris, improving their ability to identify hazards, navigate exits, and locate people or pets in distress.

When you donate to Nichols Hills Crime & Fire Prevention, you’re investing in the safety and security of our first responders and neighbors. Learn how you can support this impactful organization by visiting https://bit.ly/NHCFP
