🎆 The countdown to Nicholasville’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show begins now! 🎇

We’re excited to once again welcome the community to our Nicholasville headquarters on Saturday, July 4, for a fantastic evening headlined by an incredible fireworks display celebrating the 250th anniversary of our great country.

Come out, enjoy the atmosphere, and take part in one of Central Kentucky’s favorite Independence Day traditions. Guests can enter through our headquarters’ main gates on US-27, with gates open from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., or until capacity is reached. The fireworks display begins at 10:00 p.m.

We’re excited to once again partner with Mayor Linda Gorton, the City of Lexington, Ky - Government, and Lexington, KY Parks & Recreation to host the 2026 Lexington Fourth of July Fireworks Show at our Central Kentucky Lines yard in downtown Lexington!

Each year, this event brings the Lexington community together to celebrate Independence Day, and this year’s celebration is especially meaningful as our nation approaches its 250th anniversary. We’re grateful to help continue this tradition and be part of a milestone moment for communities across Central Kentucky.

“This event has become a meaningful tradition for our company and our community, and we are honored to play a role in bringing people together each year," said Justin Broyles, President & CEO of R. J. Corman Railroad Group. Of those, 15 received the Jake Award with Distinction, recognizing zero reportable injuries for the year. This reflects the strong commitment our teams bring to safety across our operations.

We are proud to share that Justin Broyles, President & CEO of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, has been named Chair of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association Board of Directors.

Justin was formally installed on April 14 during the ASLRRA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Minneapolis. As part of the ceremony, outgoing Chair Matthew Walsh passed the traditional spike maul to Justin, symbolizing the official transition of board leadership.

Since joining the ASLRRA Board of Directors in 2020, Justin has played an active role in association leadership, including serving as Vice Chair. In his new role, he will help guide ASLRRA’s work on the issues that matter most to short line and regional railroads. This appointment marks an important milestone and recognizes his experience, judgment, and commitment to the industry.

Congratulations to Justin on this well-earned honor and exciting next chapter!

“While his vision was ambitious, his mission was simple. He committed to doing the job better and faster than anyone else, and believed if you worked hard, treated people right, and stayed committed to your mission, opportunity would follow. And it did.”

At the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association Conference in Minneapolis, April Corman Colyer accepted a Short Line Industry Hall of Fame induction on behalf of her late father, Rick Corman, founder of R. J. Corman Railroad Group.

This posthumous honor recognizes Rick Corman’s lasting impact on the railroad industry and the values that defined both his career and the company he built. From hard work and integrity to treating people the right way, Rick believed success was earned through commitment, consistency, and showing up when it mattered most.

We are proud to honor his life, his vision, and the example he set for so many. Thank you to ASLRRA for this meaningful recognition, and to everyone who helps carry his mission forward.

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, two GE Dash 8‑40CW locomotives we are adding to our fleet are being prepared with a commemorative paint scheme celebrating 250 years of history, progress, and railroading.

Numbered 1776 and 2026, the locomotives connect the nation’s founding with its present. Purchased from Wabtec Corporation and formerly owned by CSX, the units are receiving their new paint scheme as part of the delivery process before entering service.

Following delivery, the locomotives will operate in the Nashville market on R. J. Corman’s Nashville & Eastern Railroad (NERR). Unit 1776 is scheduled to arrive in July, followed by unit 2026 in September.

These locomotives recognize 250 years of American history while continuing the daily work that keeps American freight moving, supporting local industry and connecting communities across the nation.

Please join us in congratulating Shannon Drown, our Chief Commercial Officer – Railroads, on her appointment to the American Cancer Society’s Kentucky Area Board!

When asked what inspired her to serve, Shannon shared:
“I joined the American Cancer Society’s Kentucky Board because I’ve seen how leadership can change lives. Our founder, Rick Corman, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2001 and responded by funding research, extending hope, and building a legacy of action.”

We are proud of Shannon and grateful for the important work the American Cancer Society does for individuals and families across Kentucky.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do at R. J. Corman. During this year’s Safety Commitment Week, our teams across the company focused on strengthening our safety culture and reaffirming our commitment to keeping one another safe.

Throughout the week, we signed safety pledges, hosted daily team safety briefings, and reinforced what we discussed with themed candy bars. These efforts helped keep safety top of mind and encouraged our team members to build safe habits into their everyday work.

We’re proud of our team’s dedication to safety. It’s this shared commitment that helps ensure everyone finishes each shift safely and returns home after a job well done.
