🔥 HUGE NEWS ON THE ROSS FIRE — 76% CONTAINED! 🔥

We’ve got another major jump in containment this morning! The Ross Fire is now 76% contained, up from 65% yesterday afternoon.

The fire remains at approximately 90,400 acres across Jack and Palo Pinto Counties.

After more than two weeks of battling this massive wildfire, crews continue to make excellent progress. At 76% containment, we’re getting closer and closer to seeing this fire fully contained.

🌧️ Even better news: rain chances returning to North Texas could provide some much-needed help to firefighters and the landscape today.

• 🚒 Crews continuing mop-up and containment operations

🚒 DEPLOYMENT UPDATE 🚒

Crews have arrived safely in Division Wh***ey, where they are currently conducting structure protection operations and supporting brush trucks along the fire line.

Weather conditions are expected to escalate fire activity later this afternoon with rising temperatures and gusty winds.

8/29/26, Saturday morning 8 am update. Good news is that the fire is not spreading as rapidly. Just over 100 acres seemed to have been added from yesterday morning to today. Total area affected now is 88,127 acres. But the great news is containment is continuing to go up. We are seeing 31% containment and that number hopefully will rise more by tonight.

Winds have shifted to the Southeast. So will still need to keep a close eye on things.
