Today, our wildland fire family is mourning an unimaginable loss.
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, three brave wildland firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the Knowles and Gore Fires along the Colorado–Utah border. Two additional firefighters were injured in the line of duty and remain in our thoughts as they recover.
There are no words that can truly ease the pain felt by their families, friends, and fellow firefighters. These courageous Firefighters answered the call without hesitation, placing themselves in harm’s way to protect lives, communities, and our nation’s natural resources.
Please keep the families of the fallen, the injured firefighters, and every member of the fire service in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Their courage, commitment, and selfless sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Firefighters . Your final watch is over. We will carry your legacy forward, and we will never forget your sacrifice.
🇺🇸🔥 Always Remember. Never Forget.

As a result of Governor Cox's emergency declaration, the State Forrester's ban on fireworks within municipal boundaries, and consultation with the County Fire Marshal; fireworks are prohibited everywhere in Nibley during 2-5 July. Fireworks are already prohibited by state law outside of that time window. Although this ban might be disappointing, we cannot risk the possible loss of landscapes, property, and lives from the heightened fire threat.

Due to extremely dry conditions and increased wildfire danger, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are now in effect. These restrictions are in place to reduce the risk of human caused wildfires and help protect our communities, firefighters, and natural resources. Even a single spark can start a fast moving wildfire under current conditions. Please do your part by following all restrictions, avoiding activities that could ignite a fire, and reporting any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.
Thank you for helping protect the residents, visitors, and public lands of our community.

If you live in Cache Valley this has been a topic brought to public attention on the fire and EMS service in the valley. I would encourage you to talk to your city council. Research for yourself. The citizens of the County have a voice in what kind of fire department they want. That time to make your voice heard is now. The duplication of public service in small communities is taxing on citizens. A district which is already established can decrease those costs to citizens. This is no different than many of the other communities in Utah that have already done this. The district that is formed now has experienced qualified command staff with a deep history and knowledge of how a career fire district can move forward benefiting the citizens of Cache County.

As the Cache County Fire District (CCFD) Board of Trustees continues its efforts to unite the fire and EMS services of Cache County, union members with the International Firefighters Association’s
