It’s Turkey Time! Carrie Share’s new boyfriend, Ted, is out hunting turkeys for us. As we don’t think Ted will be successful in even getting one bird, we turn to you for help. Saturday, November 8th from 11 to 2 pm at 12 Roxbury road, we will be collecting frozen turkeys for Thanksgiving baskets. We are looking for medium sized turkeys, around 10 to 12 pounds, to be donated. If you can’t make it to our pantry, please consider donating using our QR code.

Thank you for your ongoing support. And watch out for Ted if you see him around town, he can be grouchy at times.

Our hearts were breaking with joy today as we watched you, our friends, our relatives and our coworkers, all heard our request for help to feed the people less fortunate that you!

It’s important that you all know that our community donated over TWO TONS OF FOOD TODAY. Thats right, 4180 POUNDS OF FOOD. The pantry is bursting at the seems. You made a huge difference in people’s lives today, a day that was full of fear and insecurity as to how they were going to feed their families tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that. Care and Share had a large increase in the number of people requesting help this last two weeks.

Care and Share also wants to give a big thank you to our volunteers, who worked very hard today sorting and processing that amount of food. Needless to say, we have never taken in two tons of food in one day. There will be a lot of Tylenol and Advil administered tonight 😉
As full as the pantry is now, we know that by the end of next week, many shelves will be bare. The need continues, it is constantly there for us to battle. But we also know that YOU are there with us, fighting the good fight. We humbly thank you, our friends, who make this effort all possible.

A huge Thank You to the Yankee Farmer in East
Lyme, who donated over 4 bushels of apples to Care and Share, with a promise of more to follow. Karen and Abby, you are amazing. Apples will last a long time, and are healthy food for our community. Thanks for answering our call for help.

Today, Care and Share celebrated some of our most outstanding donors and supporters.
We publicly recognize our 2025 Community Heroes 👏👏👏 :

The East Lyme Fire Department,
The Salem Lions Club,
Kevin and Lisa McGowan,
Nancy Post,
Anthony Cascio and
Jim Harris.
These people have gone above and beyond the call of duty in our fight to end hunger. Their work and tireless efforts to raise funds, support our organization, and donate food for the community, should be recognized and celebrated by all. We humbly bow to our Heroes, and wish them much success in the future.
You have indeed, made a difference, in other, less fortunate people’s lives.
Thank You

If you haven’t noticed, the morning temperatures have been in the low to mid 30’s. Our selection of winter coats are back, however, we need your help. Last year we gave away more than 400 warm winter coats that you donated to Care and Share. There is always a tremendous demand in our community for warm coats. Can you please help us make a difference for people who are less fortunate than you?
We are accepting warm winter coats that are either new or like new (gently used), along with socks for kids, every Saturday, from 11 to 1 pm, at 12 Roxbury Road, in Niantic. Thank you for your generous donations.
