With heavy hearts, we ask our community to keep one of our fellow firefighters and his family in your thoughts and prayers following the passing of his father — a proud volunteer firefighter who dedicated years of service to his community.

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of James "JB" Bowman. JB will be greatly missed by us all and his community. During his 43 years with Wilson Fire Company JB held many positions including Chief and most recently Trustee. JB overseen many committees, projects and Manhattan's in his years with us. We have it from here Chief.

Please join us in congratulating our newly promoted Fire Chief, a leader who has always led with humility, integrity, and level- headed leadership.

With 32 total years of combined Active Duty and Civilian Service, he has dedicated his career to serving others, mentoring those around him, and leading by example. He has earned the respect of this department not by seeking recognition, but through his unwavering commitment, professionalism, and genuine care for his people and community.

His calm leadership and humble nature make him exceptionally deserving of this promotion, and we are proud to serve alongside him as he takes on this new role in his career.

Congratulations to our newly appointed Chief Larson — this honor is truly well earned. 🚒🇺🇸

Air is your lifeline.

Today’s SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) consumption drills are a reminder that every breath counts. Firefighters don’t have unlimited air—most bottles last about 20–30 minutes under ideal conditions, and even less during intense work.

These drills teach us to understand how fast we use air and when it’s time to exit before reaching our emergency reserve. Knowing your limits and managing your air isn’t optional—it’s what gets you home.

* STRUCTURE FIRE *

Yesterday Evening shortly after 10:30pm, we were requested Mutual Aid to the City of Tonawanda for a working residential fire on Young Street. Engine 7 and Chief 2 responded. First arriving units from the City reported fire on the first floor of a 2 & 1/2 story frame that quickly extended in the void spaces up into the attic. Upon arrival on scene, our crew was put to work. We were assigned the task of a vertical vent on the metal roof, along with assisting in conducting a secondary search and checking for further extension. It’s always our pleasure to assist the City of Tonawanda in any capacity

Great work by all those involved

* ATTACHED GARAGE FIRE *

This Morning at approximately 0840hrs we were requested Mutual Aid to Bergholz for a fire in a garage with reports of smoke coming from the garage and back of the residence. Engine 8 and Chief 2 responded. Bergholz Chief arrived on location first and confirmed a working fire in an attached garage. Engine 8 arrived as the first due engine and split the crew for both a search of the residence and fire attack. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the garage with minor smoke damage in the home
