What else can we say….but thank you! This week the community was out in force in support of us. We are grateful for the residents, P.J. Whelihan’s, and the Upper Makefield Business Association for their support and fundraising this week. UMBA is among the top civic groups who really care about this community and work daily to make our world a better place.

Wednesday evening was a wonderful example of local businesses, community organizations, first responders, and residents coming together for a common purpose.

At our September UMBA General Meeting at P.J. Whelihan’s in Newtown, the UMBA - Upper Makefield Business Association proudly presented a $2,500 donation to Newtown Ambulance Squad in support of the vital work they do for our community every single day.

But what made the evening especially meaningful was that this was much more than an UMBA meeting — it was a TRUE COMMUNITY EVENT!

Newtown EMS partnered with P.J. Whelihan’s for a special community fundraiser. Throughout the evening, anyone who came to the restaurant for dinner, drinks, or takeout could support Newtown EMS simply by participating — with 15% of their bill donated back to Newtown EMS.

And our community showed up! 👏

The restaurant was filled with neighbors, friends, businesses, EMS supporters, and community members all helping support the men and women who are there for us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

UMBA was proud to hold our meeting that evening and be part of such a tremendous show of community support.

A huge THANK YOU to P.J. Whelihan’s, Newtown EMS, our UMBA members, and everyone from the Upper Makefield Township community who attended, ordered dinner, stopped by, donated, or simply helped spread the word.

Who wants to cook on a Wednesday night? No one! So, come out to our first ever Dine and Donate at P.J. Whelihan's in Newtown on Wednesday September 9th! For dine in or take-out, 15% of all sales that night will be donated to Newtown EMS as long as you mention this flyer! The donated funds will be used to replace aging equipment that we use daily. Come out for a great cause and get a great dinner at the same time. We thank the Newtown P.J. Whelihan's for supporting us.

Since late Spring we’ve been busy. Busy helping the community, busy training, and busy preparing. We haven’t had time to post a lot this season, so over the next few days we will post some of the many things we have been working on. These photos are from our Bi-annual skills training that we require our personnel to attend. With much gratitude to the Bucks County Community College and Dr. Corrigan, Dean of Allied Heath Sciences for allowing us to use the simulation lab for our late May skills sessions. We spent several days working on obstetric, cardiac, and advanced airway skills. Our rigorous program is an investment in your care. In fact, we are proud to “brag” that our sedation assisted intubation program has a 100% success rate in advanced airway placement since we were credentialed in July 2025. Stay tuned for more news about how we spent our summer!

Our thanks to Bensalem EMS for sending a crew to cover our Washington Crossing station while our members attended the celebration of life for long-time member Howie Range. We appreciate the mutual support from Bensalem EMS.

We are saddened by the news of one of our long time current members, Harold “Howie” Range has passed away this morning after a long illness. Howie joined Newtown EMS on July 1, 1995. He was an integral part of our history, and the history of EMS in Bucks County. For last 3 years Howie came off the street however he still served by being the Chair of our Safety Committee. Howie was also a career Fire dispatcher ( #488) for the Bucks County Department of Emergency Communications until his retirement a few years ago. We will miss his wit and have fond memories and stories of Howie from his dispatch days, and days spent on the ambulance. Howie was also a member of the Upper Makefield Fire Company.
