Proud to Accept Newtown Township's 2025 Transportation Sustainability Recognition!

Earlier this month, I had the tremendous honor of accepting the 2025 Transportation Sustainability Recognition Award from the Delaware County Transportation Management Association DCTMA
on behalf of Newtown Township and the Board of Supervisors.

I was joined by Vice-Chair Tina Roberts-Lightcap, Supervisors Paul Sanfrancesco and Mike Russo, and Township Manager Steve Nease, as Newtown Township was recognized for our ongoing efforts to promote and advance sustainable mobility throughout Newtown.

In my remarks, I shared the following: “Smart, sustainable infrastructure isn’t just possible in a suburban township like ours—it’s necessary. And it’s already happening.”

This recognition affirms our commitment to building a more walkable, bikeable, connected community—for today and for future generations.

From the new sidewalks and raised crosswalks on Ellis Avenue, to the Bishop Hollow Road sidewalk extension, to the proposed new trail and bike lane extending Bryn Mawr Avenue, to our Board policy requiring sidewalks in all new development—we’re delivering real, lasting improvements that prioritize safety, accessibility, and environmental responsibility.

We're also proud to have secured the historic John West House at the crossroads of three major trails, creating new opportunities for recreation, preservation, and community connection.

And we’re not stopping here.

This award is not a finish line—it’s a milestone. We’ll keep expanding, improving, and innovating—step by step, connection by connection—to make Newtown Township a leader in sustainable suburban infrastructure.

Thank you again to Tracey, and the entire DCTMA team for this meaningful recognition—and for your commitment to a cleaner, more connected Delaware County.

The work continues—and the future we’re building is one we can all walk (or bike!) toward together.

Although the county still has some absentee votes from overseas trickling in, you can view the unofficial results at: https://election.co.delaware.pa.us/eb/November_2023/index.html

School Board candidates, Lisa Pacell and Dana Altobelli are comfortably ahead with their Marple running mates (Bilker, Reynolds and McKenzie) by about over 1000 votes. Keep in mind the school district includes Newtown and Marple township.

Auditor Steve Werner is ahead by 304.

For Supervisor, Paul Sanfrancesco is up by 164 votes.

Again, some military/overseas absentee ballots are still coming in, but it wont change the final outcomes.

Congratulations to Dana, Lisa, Paul and Steve! And thank you to all who played a hand and brought them over the finish line.

Please keep checking this page for additional updates as well as dates for future party meetings.
