The 168th turned out to recycle yesterday! We are so grateful to our partners J&K Secure Shredding and Sycamore International for providing a sustainable way for neighbors to dispose of paper and unwanted electronics. Thanks also to the folks at Campus Blvd for providing the space for the event!

Thanks to Marie, Kate, Alex and Josie for all their hard work! It was a great way to chat with neighbors on a beautiful day!

Saturday, October 24 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day! Today provides a safe and convenient opportunity for people to dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs.

Residents of the 168th can go to the following sites with designated drop boxes for anonymous disposal of unwanted prescription medications:

PA State Police Media Barracks-Located at 1342 W. Baltimore Pike, Media, PA 19063 open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Edgmont Township Building-located at 1000 Gradyville Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073, open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-4:30pm

Newtown Township Police Department-located at 209 Bishop Hollow Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073, open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Radnor Township Police Department-located at 301 Iven Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087, the drop box is available in the lobby of the 24-hour entrance of the police department

Delaware County Courthouse-located at 201 W. Front Street Media, PA 19063, open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Accepted items include prescription tablets, capsules, patches, and pet medications.

It was another productive but sad week for the PA House. We said goodbye to colleagues from both sides of the aisle who have had long and distinguished careers serving our commonwealth. Pictured here is one of my favorites, the incomparable Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski from Luzerne County who has served since 2006. We will miss his optimism, enthusiasm, kindness, his fierce advocacy for his communities and our commonwealth, and his ability to light up a room. Wishing him all the best in his next adventure!

Legislatively we tackled many issues including cancer screenings for firefighters, guardrails for Flock cameras, and preventing data centers from obtaining public utility status. Sadly, these bills will most likely have to be reintroduced next session for a chance to get passed into law.

Some bills which have made it to the governor's desk which I have been proud to co-sponsor and/or vote for include:

👏Senate Bill 416 - Allows volunteer fire companies, youth sports leagues and other nonprofits who depend on small games of chance to raise money to support their missions and activities to accept payment cards and online payments through platforms such as Venmo and PayPay as payment for raffle tickets and other games. I know many in the 168th have been paying attention to this bill!

👏House Bill 453 - Defining 911 operators as first responders. This is important recognition of the essential work of those who are on the front lines of emergency care.

👏House Bill 1123 - Insurance companies now have to cover colorectal cancer screenings starting at age 45. Early diagnosis saves lives!

👏House Bill 2474 - Teachers and other workers who deal with children are required to report suspected child sexual abuse material, including deepfakes created by artificial intelligence, under a new law clarifying the requirements. This is so important to ensure valuable evidence which law enforcement can use in investigations is not lost or compromised.

👏House Bill 1961 - This authorizes Pennsylvania to join the PA Licensure Compact, enabling PAs to practice in other member states under a “compact privilege” without obtaining separate licenses. This will go far toward attracting and retaining healthcare providers, especially in rural areas.

👏Senate Bill 1014 - Bell to bell cell phone ban applies to all public, private, charter, cyber charter, career and technical schools, and intermediate units in Pennsylvania. Starting no later than the 2027-2028 school year, students would be required to refrain from using cellphones during the school day. Exceptions will be allowed for students with medical conditions or individualized learning plans that require a personal communication device. Local control is maintained as the bill allows for each school district to determine how the ban would be implemented and allows those with a ban to keep what they have in place.

Last Friday, Team 168 had such a great time "shopping" with Mitzvah Circle to help provide stability for families in our own communities during trying times.

Mitzvah Circle, while located in Montco, is serving many families in Delco. In fact, they served 101,880 people in Delco in 2025. This includes providing clothing, coats, shoes, toiletries, and many household items we take for granted.

Most significantly they are addressing the need for period supplies. Since January of this year, they have distributed 186,373 pads and tampons in Delco which is more than they did in 2025 and there are still three months to go.

Stay tuned as we will soon be announcing a collection for coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to support the work of Mitvah Circle!
