Harvey County Emergency Management The official page of Harvey County Emergency Management. This is achieved in a variety of ways.

Harvey County Emergency Management is tasked by the Board of County Commissioners to oversee and ensure positive outcomes for all prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts related to emergency and disaster operations. They include:
-Creating and updating the Harvey County Emergency Operations Plan.
-Coordinating and Supporting emergency response resources.
-Hosting Local E

mergency Planning Commission (LEPC) meetings and training.
-Providing training and exercise opportunities to emergency response stakeholders through a TEP.
-Serving as a local EM point of contact to Kansas and Federal Emergency Management agencies.
-Coordinating and supporting recovery operations during large-scale events.
-Raising awareness for emergency preparedness best practices.
-Promoting a resilient community through a variety of prevention and protection efforts.
-Encourage a whole community approach to emergency management.

Strong to severe storms are possible across the region for today and tonight. Uncertainty remains regarding the coverage, location, and timing of the severe storms.

⛈️ Sunday (Morning through Mid-afternoon): Primary threats would be large hail.

⚡️ Sunday (Mainly after 8pm): Potential for intense storms. Hazards include large hail up to 2", damaging winds up to 60-70 MPH, a few tornadoes possible; including a strong tornado.

⚡️ Sunday: Potential for higher-impact severe weather. This is HIGHLY dependent on how much the atmosphere can destabilize during the afternoon and exact location of the warm front.

⛈️ [Severe Storm Update Through 9pm] Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will continue across portions of central KS with additional development expected across northern OK and south-central KS. The strongest storms will be capable of 2-inch hail, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and tornadoes.

The tornado potential is expected to increase through 9 PM. This includes the potential for strong tornadoes.
