Discovery High School at Newton-Conover

Discovery High School at Newton-Conover Discovery High School focuses on personalized education through project-based learning. We have approximately 135 students enrolled in grades 9-12.

Discovery High School, formerly Newton-Conover Health Science High School, is a small public high school with the Newton-Conover City School System. Discovery owes existence to the Newton-Conover City School Board of Education, North Carolina New Schools Project, and the dedicated teachers and staff who work there.

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Below are the announcements for this week.

Our enrichment schedule for this week is as follows: Monday and Tuesday - Enrichment, Wednesday - Family, Thursday - Advisory, Friday - Park Day.

There will be an Open House on Thursday 5:30-6:30 where parents can come in and meet their child's teachers. This is a drop in event and you will enter the building up at the gym. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Park Day is Friday. We will be taking buses to Southside Park so we can participate in activities to build upon our community at school. Permission slips will be going home tomorrow. If they are not signed and returned by Thursday, the student will not be able to participate. Students should return these to their Advisory teacher.

Students, if you are wanting a lunch, please be sure to complete the form by 9:15. Some of you are cutting it close.

The yearbook for this year is currently on sale. Please refer to the attached flyer for more information on ordering details.

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that you're having a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Please see below for this week's announcements.

No school tomorrow due to the Labor Day holiday.

This week's Enrichment Schedule: Tuesday & Wednesday-Enrichment, Thursday-Advisory, Friday-Community.

We will be having an Open House on Thursday September 17th 5:30-6:30 so parents will have the opportunity to meet their student's teachers. It will be a drop in format.

We will have our annual Park Day on Friday September 18th. Be on the look out for more information and a parent permission form.

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone is doing well. What a terrific first week we had! I am looking forward to continuing that momentum. Below are the announcements for the upcoming week.

We will begin our regular schedule on Monday. You will go to your period 11 or 1st period class when you leave the gym or cafeteria at 7:30.

Underclassmen pictures will take place on Thursday September 3rd. Please refer to the attachment for more information.

Our teachers will be available after school for any student who has questions or needs extra help. Refer to the schedule below to see when each teacher will be available.
Mr. Crosson - Tuesdays 3-4
Ms. Greenwald - Available most afternoons after school; she will post her weely availability in her classroom
Ms. Isenhour - Tuesdays 3-4
Ms. Ward - Mondays and Fridays 3-3:30

There will be no school on Monday September 7th due to the Labor Day holiday.
