Family Support Organization of Morris and Sussex Counties Family Support Organization providing support for families with children with special challenges

Our Family Support Partners are parents and caregivers of children with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, substance abuse and juvenile justice challenges. We provide intensive, individual support to families to make sure that the family voice is heard and the family vision is achieved. We assist families during critical situations such as a hospitalization or entering a residential facility, appearing in court, school meetings and child family team meetings. We engage families in the community helping them to identifying their strengths and building on those strengths to address their needs and goals.

On June 23, 2026, Family Support Organizations in New Jersey reached a historic milestone by directly engaging with DCF Commissioner Joseph Ribsam. This unprecedented meeting emphasized the critical role of FSOs in the children's behavioral health system, showcasing their commitment to family-driven services and collaboration. With a focus on addressing systemic challenges, FSOs serve approximately 5,000 families annually, reinforcing the importance of lived experience in shaping policies and services.
