Hunley Award in Florida
The Holmes County High School Jr. ROTC in Bonifay, Fl. hosted their awards banquet. William Platt the commander of the Gainer SCV camp in Panama City asked me bring the Hunley down for display. They have given 4 of these awards and plan to give 2 more for a total of 7 this year.

The meetings of the Baker County Camp have been suspended for over a year. We did have a great place to meet and I think we could go back there . I need male members at least 7 to ten or more who would agree to meet at least once a month in Newton, Georgia, and we can restart this camp.

For years I have stated that every county needs a camp. That has come up again. Tonight in Pelham, Georgia, a man is bringing up a motion that is the results of the SCV restoration of an archway into the city cemetery. Unfortunately, I can not be in attendance, however, we will have folks there.

We need a camp in Mitchell County. If you are interested text or call me at 229 379 6714. or email me at [email protected].

This was posted on another page of mine, by me. Baker County needs to know about this as well because 1. Mitchell County is next door to you. 2. Baker County has had a camp which was closed due to a lack of membership.

This and all other counties need a camp.

She is back at home and she is looking great...

A few months back I had an encounter with a South Georgia Attack Deer who was on a su***de mission. The Ranch Hand affixed to the front of my truck helped him live the dream.

The men at the Twins Body Shop in Colquitt got the work completed and it looks great. Once again they went the extra mile to see to it I was happy.

This is the truck that pulls the Hunley Submarine in parades and other events. I try to keep it looking good.

Remove the two metal "plugs" and it would be virtually identical to a "plain old" shell. Guessing this would be the 24 pounder. But some 8 inch (64pdr) landmines were also used.

Now, this probably is an artillery shell re-purposed or retro fitted as a land mine and could have been fired in its original state.
Its not impossible that this was was actually cast as a land mine, using a modified mold, but would still be difficult, if not outright impossible to distinguish from an ordinary shell.
