🗳️ FOUR AREA COUNCIL DEBATES — Watch Now!

The Four Area Council Candidate Debates — presented by the Waban, Newton Highlands, Newtonville, and Upper Falls Area Councils — took place this past weekend! 🎥

A huge thank you to everyone who organized, contributed, and participated. 🙌

Grounded in results from the recent citywide survey, moderators asked questions based on real resident concerns, giving candidates for Mayor, City Council, and School Committee the chance to share how they’ll tackle the issues that matter most to our community.

ELECTION WORKERS NEEDED TO STAFF AREA COUNCIL ELECTIONS ON NOVEMBER 4

All Area Council Members are elected positions. However, these elections require a separate ballot - and a separate table on Election Day (11/4).

We need to staff voting locations for all four Area Councils (Upper Falls, Newton Highlands, Waban and Newtonville), as well as Early Voting In Person on all days. Pay at $15/hr is available.

Note that our staffing needs amount to many hours - so we need you!

If interested, please fill out the following as soon as you can:

City Hall Area Council Election Worker Packet - print, fill out, then send to the address below (do this first/ASAP so City Hall knows that you will be working)

City Hall, Office of the City Clerk, Attn: Elections
1000 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 103
Newton, MA 02459

Area Council Election Worker (online) Signup Form (although Early Voting is not listed here, we need to staff that as well)

As noted, you do not need to work/volunteer for an entire day. You may choose to work only one shift - although more would be welcomed.

Thank you for your willingness to serve in this important capacity.

UPPER FALLS VILLAGE DAY is Sunday, September 14, 2025, 11am- 2pm

We are holding our annual Village Day on Sunday, September 14 from 11A-2P. It's a fun family-friendly event where we close off the last block of Chestnut St along the Greenway and set up vendors, food, and entertainment (live music, magician, bouncy house, face painter, performance by local dance schools, etc).

Booths still available! To register for a booth, go to https://UpperFallsVillageDayVendorRegistration.eventbrite.com
(Click GET TICKETS to register for a booth)

We could always use a few more volunteers to help with the event. If interested, please contact Julie Irish, 617-417-0634, [email protected]

See you on the 14th!
