My First Storytime Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 at 10:30am.
This is a lapsit program with movement, songs, and stories appropriate for babies, toddlers, and their caregivers. You will help your children learn how much fun it is to come to the library!

Sensory Playdate: Sensory-friendly play for kids ages 3-5 on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 10:30am.
Drop by anytime in the hour for self-directed sensory activities. There will be stations set up around the room, each with a different activity for children to explore at their own pace.

Eik the Read Dog on Saturday, November 7 starting at 10:30 am.


Eik the Read Dog and his handler, Emma, are coming to visit the Newton Library to let kids practice reading aloud!

This event is for children ages 5 and up. It is designed especially for kids who are learning to read, reluctant readers, or those needing a little confidence boost with their reading skills. Registration is required*, and there are 4 slots (10:30-10:45am; 10:45-11am; 11-11:15am; 11:15-11:30am) so that each reader gets 15 minutes with Eik. Registration begins on October 24th.

*If you sign up for a slot but need to cancel for any reason, please cancel your registration online so that another child on the wait list gets a turn. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Draw Along Creatures Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at 4:00pm.

Draw Along Creatures is a learn-to-draw program focusing on animals. After creating a drawing of popular creatures from simple shapes, the artist instructor will show kids how to create scenes from their imagination. This program meets twice per month during the school year, generally on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.

3rd & 4th Grade Writing Group on Wednesday, October 28 at 7 pm.

Does your third or fourth grader like to write? Then this monthly program is for them! Participants will learn to expand their thoughts and description, and will have time to work and share each session. Please note this program is for kids who are interested in writing and are excited to actively participate in the monthly writing activities. If your child is not feeling up to participating we may contact you and ask that they try again another month.

This program will meet on Wednesdays at 7pm on October 28, (NO November - Thanksgiving), December 23, and January 27.
