Safety training for Oregon’s commercial fishing fleet. Commercial fishermen are invited to join a free, F/V Drill Conductor & Fishing First Aid Safety Training (FFAST) in Newport, October 26 through 28, Astoria October 28-30, and Coos Bay November 3-5.
This hands on training is designed specifically for fishermen and the realities of working on the water. Participants will practice critical skills including cold water survival, man overboard recovery, firefighting, flooding and damage control, MAYDAY calls, liferafts, immersion suits, helicopter rescue, CPR, first aid, and responding to serious injuries onboard.
The Drill Conductor portion meets U.S. Coast Guard training requirements for drill conductors on commercial fishing vessels. The FFAST portion includes a USCG approved HSI Basic First Aid/CPR/AED certification, along with fishing specific emergency scenarios and skills.
