The Town of Newport is accepting applications for the position of Animal Control Officer. This is a part-time, on-call position working under the supervision of the Police Department.

Applicants will need their own transportation and meet all criteria to become a State Certified Animal Control Officer within six (6) months of their appointment date.

Applications for employment are available online at newportme.org, or can be obtained at the Newport Town Office, Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM.

Thanks to Palmyra Walmart and Walmart's Sparkgood Grant, the Newport Police Department was able to purchase Blue 72 Emergency kits for people in need. The kits provide emergency food, water, first aid, masks etc...

The grant also allows us to provide other essentials (gas or a bite to eat) when we find someone in need. Thank you Walmart for your generostiy and commitment to the area you serve!

A chainsaw was found in East Newport- are you missing one? One of the pictures is of items left behind at Hannaford's. We would like to get them back to their owners. The last picture...well we may or may not still have! (some type of proof-of-ownership is needed).

He is very excited to join our team and is ready to go door to door to remind everyone to lock their homes and vehicles this season. If he asks you when you are heading out of town, please give him the dates and time!

Tips:
-Keep track of your deliveries and pick them up as soon as possible.
-Do not leave gifts in your car unattended and keep you vehicles locked.
-Watch over your neighbors and report anything unusual
-Keep and eye out for "Marv."
