A press release from our second alarm outside fire yesterday.

Chief Yannuzzi would like to emphasize the importance of calling 9-1-1 for all emergencies. Recently we have had an increase in people calling the firehouse direct to report emergency calls. Our department is staffed 24 hours a day however, crews are not always at the station.

With the outside fire season upon us, it is important to obtain fire permits. This is a mandate by the State of NH Forest and Lands.

PROMOTION ANNOUNCEMENT

We are proud to announce the promotion of Firefighter/AEMT Eric Benson to the position of Lieutenant.

Eric started with the Newport Fire Department as a call member in 2006 and worked to become a full-time Firefighter in 2018. Even as he explored opportunities with other organizations, he remained a dedicated member of our department and ultimately returned to us. Anyone who knows Eric knows that Newport is not only home to him and his family, but also where his heart lies. His dedication to the organization and the town shows every day on and off shift.

We wish Eric the best of luck in his new role with the department. We look forward to seeing his continued growth and the growth of the organization.

As of 6:00 a.m. this morning, Lieutenant Steven Dube Jr. has completed his final shift as a full‑time member of the Newport Fire Department. He has accepted a position with another organization and will be moving on to the next chapter in his career.

Lt. Dube has served our department full‑time for the past seven years. He began his journey with us as a call member, transitioned into a full‑time role, and ultimately earned promotion to Lieutenant through his dedication and leadership.

He also spent three years as president of our IAFF union. In that role, he devoted countless hours to strengthening, rebuilding, and preparing our union for the future. His commitment to both the department and the membership has left a lasting impact.

We are grateful for the time, effort, and professionalism he has given to our organization. “Doobz,” as he is known around the firehouse, will be greatly missed.
We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.

The crew today has been treated to some very sweet treats. After the last couple days of snow prep and clean up, the crew today works in preparation for the next round…..or few rounds of snow. They received a special delivery from Crumbl in West Lebanon. Thank you for thinking of us and your generous donation to our crew.
