We are proud of our members who completed the firefighter combat challenge yesterday in Indianapolis! This timed challenge, simulates some of the toughest tasks we may be faced with while on shift.

The challenge was even referred to as “the toughest two minutes in sports” by ESPN in 1993 and it has stuck ever since!

🎉I-471 Reopens!🎉

This gives new meaning to Opening Day. As of 6:20 p.m., all lanes on I-471 have reopened to traffic following a fire. Additionally, the Memorial Parkway bridge overpass has reopened.

As a reminder -- these surface repairs are meant to be a temporary fix. We're doing what we can right now to get the highway back up and running. We'll return in the Spring to do a full resurfacing in the impacted area. We'll also return at a later date to make repairs to the barrier wall, and to replace a highway sign on the overpass.

Thanks to everyone for their patience, and hats off to the first responders, city/county agencies and our crews for getting the highway reopened in less than 24 hours!
