Thank you to everyone who voted in the November 8th election. We appreciate your support of Pend Oreille County Fire District 8 merging with South Pend Oreille Fire & Rescue.

We look forward to continuing to serve our residents under the umbrella of South Pend Oreille Fire & Rescue beginning January 1, 2023.

EMT CLASS REGISTRATION: South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue is now accepting student registration for the Emergency Medical Technician course beginning on October 22, 2022 and ending on January 30, 2023. The majority of classes will be held at SPOFR Sacheen Lake Station 32, located at 6131 Hwy 211 Newport, WA 99156. Go to Spofr.org for registration forms and additional information regarding course prerequisites, recruit requirements and fees. The deadline for registration is October 20, 2022.EMT Class Schedule is available on our website. The Lead Instructor for this course is John Dugger of South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue.

Burn ban update for Pend Oreille County:

The Fire Danger in Southern Pend Oreille County is “Very High” and in Northern Pend Oreille County is “High.” All debris burning remains prohibited in Pend Oreille County. This includes rule (debris) burning and permit burning.

Effective 12:01 am Friday, August 12th, all campfires & recreational fires are prohibited in Southern Pend Oreille County: South of MP 399 Hwy 20 (Alaska Ln North) and South of MP 10.5 Leclerc Rd N (Riverbend Loop Rd) to the County Line.

Campfires and Recreational fires are permitted in Northern Pend Oreille County: North of MP 399 Hwy 20 (Alaska Ln North) and North of MP 10.5 Leclerc Rd N (Riverbend Loop Rd), subject to the following conditions:

The fire
(1) Is attended at all times
(2) Is no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet and no taller than 2 feet
(3) A charged hose or five gallons of water is present along with a shovel and
(4) There is a fire break/non-combustible surface of at least three feet around the fire.

In the event that a fire escapes, the property owner is responsible for any and all fire suppression costs.”
