The Newport Police Department is proud to welcome its newest part-time Emergency Communications Dispatcher, Emily Phillabaum, to our Emergency Communications Team!

Chief Travis Bingham and the Newport Police Department want to Congratulate Emily Phillabaum for successfully completing the Department's 16 week Emergency Communications Training Course.

Today, is Emily's last official day of training and will start her first shift tomorrow

A 2025 North Country Union High School Graduate, Emily started her training in mid July shortly after graduating.

Emily had the opportunity to shadow Orleans County Sheriffs Department's Dispatcher, Tammy Lacourse through a program at North Country Union High School's Career Center and Emily knew this was a career path she was very interested in.

Throughout Emily's training, she came in prepared, demonstrated a willingness to learn and showed great poise when she faced moments of where she was challenged and had to multi-task during high risk situations.

Over the 16 weeks of Emily's training, she received classroom instruction, hands on experience as well as field experience to include a ride along with an officer and an 8 hour ride along with Newport Ambulance personnel.

Please join us in congratulating Emergency Communications Dispatcher Emily Phillabaum—we’re excited to have her and we welcome her to the Team!
