Thank you to everyone who attended or streamed our second community meeting on power supply and wildfire preparedness last night in Metaline Falls.

We appreciated the great questions and discussions about where we get our power, why we sell Box Canyon power, data centers, and the work we do to protect the community from the risk of wildfire.

Thank you to the The Cutter Theatre for hosting us and to the Selkirk Sun Newspaper for providing the livestream.

If you couldn’t make it, or have questions at any time, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give us a call at the PUD or email us at [email protected]. We’re always happy to hear from you and chat!

⚡ TONIGHT! ⚡

Join us for our second community forum on power supply and wildfire preparedness.

We'll discuss where your power comes from, what's changing in the energy landscape, our wildfire mitigation efforts, and what it all means for reliability and rates. We'll also address common questions about the sale of Box Canyon power, large industrial customers, and how those customers are supplied.

Bring your questions and hear directly from PUD staff!

Free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

For those who tried to apply for energy assistance today, please see the below message from Rural Resources.

Today, June 3, our online form for Energy Assistance applications was supposed to open at 11:00 AM. Unfortunately, the form did not open due to a system failure.

We understand how frustrating and confusing this was for folks who wanted to submit an application and who rely on this assistance, and we're so sorry this happened.

To account for this, the Energy Assistance team is accepting call-in applications at 509-685-6000 and placing people on the waitlist in the order of calls received. If you would like to be placed on the list, please call!

We're working on a better system for accepting these applications. We know how important this program is to our area, and we're committed to finding a better solution for our community members.

Please note that we can accept applications only until the max number of allowed applicants has been met. Calling does not guarantee placement on the list if the maximum capacity has been met.

⚡ Future energy experts in the making! ⚡

We had an awesome time recently hosting second graders from Stratton Elementary at the PUD headquarters in Newport!

Our crews taught the students about how electricity works, the importance of electrical safety, and what your PUD does every day to provide reliable power to homes and businesses throughout our community.

A big thank you to the students and teachers for spending the day with us. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did, and we can't wait to see what these bright young minds accomplish in the future! 💡

Here are a few shots of our crews at work during last week's windstorm.

It was truly an all-hands-on-deck effort, and everyone at the PUD stepped up to do their part. From the line crews, tree crews, water crews and fiber crews in the field, to our system operators, engineers, IT, customer service staff, and the team at Box Canyon who kept the dam running smoothly, every department played a critical role in restoring service and keeping operations moving.

We also want to thank our customers for their patience, understanding, and support throughout the event. The kind words, encouragement, and gratitude we received meant a great deal to our employees as they worked long hours to get the lights back on.

We're proud to serve this community!

🚁GET TO THE CHOPPA! 🚁

If you're in Newport today, join Pend Oreille PUD from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the field behind Sadie Halstead Middle School to check out our aerial saw helicopter up close, meet the crew, and learn how we're using this technology to improve reliability and reduce wildfire risk across the county this summer.

It's free, family-friendly, and honestly pretty cool.

We'll see you there!
