Please be advised that 7th Avenue will be temporarily closed today (Thursday, June 18) for sewer and water service connection work related to the Keller Fence project. The contractor was unable to complete the work as planned on Monday and will be finishing the connection today.

A detour will be in place from 4th Street to 6th Street via 6th Avenue.

National Peace Officers Memorial Day was observed on May 15, 2026, to honor the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

At the May 7, 2026 City Council meeting, Washington County Sergeant Joel Legut shared a heartfelt message about the realities of law enforcement, the risks officers face, and the impact on their families.

We are proud of Sergeant Legut and the dedicated officers who serve our community, and we are grateful for their commitment to keeping Newport safe.
