Hear the stories of 7-year-old Newport Martin, private Robin Howland of the 1st R.I. Regiment, and single mother Jenny Carr who fled to Canada. Hundreds of enslaved people on the island worked the farms, raised families, buried their loved ones, and after generations gained their freedom. Many of the descendants of these Jamestowners still live in Rhode Island and have helped to make it what it is today.
