After struggling with asthma and allergies for most of her adult life, Jennifer knows firsthand how difficult poor air quality and high pollen days can be. As a school nurse, learning that asthma is the #1 chronic illness causing school absenteeism only deepened her passion for asthma education and advocacy.

At 55 years old, with four children, three grandchildren, and nearly 34 years of marriage, asthma continues to impact Susan's life. After severe asthma attacks in her mid-40s nearly cost her life, she still struggles, especially when air quality is poor.

“We need to clean up the air. I hope people will truly consider that lungs ARE a vital organ. We need to protect our children and grandchildren.”

Today we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of firefighters everywhere. From protecting our communities to risking their lives for others, their impact goes far beyond the call of duty.

We’re especially proud to share that firefighters who participated in the Cincinnati Climb have raised over $13,000 to support lung health, an incredible impact that makes a big difference!

Today we release the American Lung Association’s 2026 “State of the Air” report, and the findings are clear: too many children - nearly half - are growing up breathing unhealthy air.

Despite decades of progress, 152 million people of all ages still live in areas with unhealthy levels of ozone or particle pollution. Recent EPA rollbacks will result in even more pollution in the air we breathe.

This Earth Day, join us in calling on EPA to protect the health of every child.
