The Newport Fire Department will observe a moment of silence on September 11, 2026, at 8:46 a.m. in solemn remembrance of the 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, 8 paramedics/EMTs, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the World Trade Center attack, extending condolences to the families affected and acknowledging the lasting impact of this tragic event on America, now 25 years past.
Public is welcome to join us in front of our apparatus at the Newport Public Safety Building.

We are getting closer! Come watch Newport FD take on Newport PD in a softball game! If you made it to the basketball game, you will know- we like to have fun! All proceeds will go to scholarships for high school seniors who have been affected by cancer (whether themselves or family member)
Asking a minimum of $5.00 donation to attend, there will be concessions and a camping raffle set! Hope to see you all there!

🚒 Congratulations to Firefighter Kyle Merchant and Firefighter Rowan Valor on graduating from the Penobscot County Fire Academy! 🚒
These two firefighters have spent the last three months preparing through our in-house academy, training every Thursday night with department members before taking on an intense two-week academy experience.
Their dedication, hard work, and willingness to sacrifice time away from their jobs and personal lives to achieve this accomplishment speaks volumes about their character and commitment to the fire service.
We are incredibly proud of both of you and all that you have accomplished. Congratulations on this well-earned achievement!

Theres no I in team and this past week proved that! Newport fire department tackled a tractor trailer fire by cooling it down and escorting it to the Newport transfer station. Thanks to teamwork with state troopers, Newport police, and the transfer station, the interstate stayed open and the issue was resolved in less than 2 hours. Teamwork!

If you see a lot of activity up to the schools today… there is no worry! We’re just up here training along with Penobscot Sheriff Dept, Newport Rescue and Penopscot County Regional Dispatch!

Newport Fire Department was dispatched to a wildland fire earlier today. Crews accessed the railroad bed via Spring Street and proceeded to the scene with the forestry truck. Upon arrival, it was determined that the fire's location, nearly two miles down the railroad bed, made it impractical to bring an engine with adequate water supply. Plymouth Fire Department was subsequently toned for assistance, providing their forestry truck to support firefighting efforts. Thanks to the cooperation between Newport Fire, Plymouth Fire, and CSX Railroad Transportation, the fire was successfully brought under control without further incident. Big shout out to Plymouth Fire and CSX Railroad Transportation for their support. The scene was turned over to the Maine Forest Rangers.
