Now that I have had some time to catch up on some sleep.Here's a little update. Tuesday night into very early wednesday morning, Engine 692 and a crew of four spent their time in orrington at the old perk plant assisting with the fire. Our crews worked the Charlie side of the building conducting fire suppression efforts on multiple floors of this 5 story building, working alongside of crews from brewer and levant. Our crews spent 6 long hours there returning home at 5am just in time for those members to leave go shower and go to there every day jobs. It's an honor to work with these guys and also to be able to help our other communities that we don't work with everyday. I also want to thank the members that came in on a call back to cover the ambulance while our crews were out of town it takes a village to keep our department strong,And we have one of the best around. Plymouth Fire and Rescue also joined us with a crew of 3 a big thank you to there department for sending members to join our task force.

This morning's annual wildland refresher training proceeded flawlessly, encompassing a range of subjects from safety procedures to fire suppression strategies and practical training drills. It was an ideal occasion to demonstrate to our new recruits the requisite skills for managing such incidents. Having undertaken numerous deployments with the Maine Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife, A.C. Turner, an accomplished wildland firefighter, imparted valuable knowledge and experience to the trainees.

PSA! As we prepare for wildland fire season..Newport Fire Department will be conducting live burn, fire training near the 400 block on Moosehead trail, Newport today April 12th. Please use caution while in the area and keep your eyes on the road.
