The crew of CAMPBELL was honored to host Rear Adm. Carlos Sardiello, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet and Chilean Navy Vice Adm. Raul Zamorano, Chief of the General Staff of the Navy during U.S.-Chilean Maritime Staff Talks in Newport, Rhode Island. During their tour they learned about day-to-day life onboard the cutter as well as CAMPBELL’s recent patrol.

Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Yesterday, the crew of USCGC Campbell had front-row seats to history as we assisted with maritime security for the iconic Artemis II mission launch on its journey around the moon. An unforgettable moment for our crew as we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday! Godspeed Artemis II!

We take personal readiness seriously here on CAMPBELL – physical fitness keeps us healthy and ready to answer the call at a moment's notice. During our most recent inport the entire crew started participating in weekly group workouts for a bit of fun and friendly competition.

We're so excited to have some new gear to help us with that! We greatly appreciate the Coast Guard Foundation for helping us obtain some new equipment for the crew to use underway!

The CAMPBELL answers the call to serve wherever we are needed most, deploying across the Caribbean and the Pacific to uphold our nation’s national security. It is a demanding mission that requires constant vigilance, but it comes with a unique perspective that few get to experience.

Throughout our patrols, the view from the bridge offering a stunning backdrop to our daily operations. We have navigated through clear, starry nights and watched gorgeous sunsets paint the sky, proving that even in the midst of duty, there is beauty to be found at sea.

We don't do this alone. Working seamlessly with partner agencies and allied nations enables us to maintain these patrols and enjoy the privilege of these vistas. It is hard work, but the sights—and the mission success—make it worth every mile.

Join us in congratulating MK1 Chevy Sheffield, CAMPBELL’s Enlisted Person of the Year! His unwavering devotion to duty and decisive action on the front lines of national security have made an immeasurable impact. As the lead Non-Compliant Vessel Pursuit crewmember, his direct actions resulted in the interdiction of 103 migrants, the seizure of $16.3 million in narcotics, and the apprehension of 38 narco-traffickers. His vigilance as a lifesaver was also on full display during a grueling 70-day patrol, where he rescued two mariners found adrift after five days at sea.

MK1 Sheffield’s leadership has been a cornerstone of our operational readiness. When faced with a 70% turnover in the Engineering Department, his guidance was the linchpin that prevented operational collapse. He personally mentored 17 new engineers, forging a resilient, mission-ready team and dedicating countless hours to ensure their success. He is a sought-after mentor for every rank, from the newest non-rate to Department Heads, actively building the mission-ready workforce of tomorrow.

On a 40-year-old cutter where equipment failures are a certainty, his technical prowess is a strategic asset. He has single-handedly overcome 60 equipment casualties and performed a complex, depot-level rebuild of a ship's generator far from any shore-side support, ensuring our cutter remains a self-sufficient, mission-capable force. His absolute ownership and steadfast reliability are the primary reasons for our continued operational success.

MK1 Sheffield is the bedrock of CAMPBELL’s Engineering Department and a leader who guarantees mission success. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, MK1!
