Join us in congratulating MK1 Chevy Sheffield, CAMPBELL’s Enlisted Person of the Year! His unwavering devotion to duty and decisive action on the front lines of national security have made an immeasurable impact. As the lead Non-Compliant Vessel Pursuit crewmember, his direct actions resulted in the interdiction of 103 migrants, the seizure of $16.3 million in narcotics, and the apprehension of 38 narco-traffickers. His vigilance as a lifesaver was also on full display during a grueling 70-day patrol, where he rescued two mariners found adrift after five days at sea.
MK1 Sheffield’s leadership has been a cornerstone of our operational readiness. When faced with a 70% turnover in the Engineering Department, his guidance was the linchpin that prevented operational collapse. He personally mentored 17 new engineers, forging a resilient, mission-ready team and dedicating countless hours to ensure their success. He is a sought-after mentor for every rank, from the newest non-rate to Department Heads, actively building the mission-ready workforce of tomorrow.
On a 40-year-old cutter where equipment failures are a certainty, his technical prowess is a strategic asset. He has single-handedly overcome 60 equipment casualties and performed a complex, depot-level rebuild of a ship's generator far from any shore-side support, ensuring our cutter remains a self-sufficient, mission-capable force. His absolute ownership and steadfast reliability are the primary reasons for our continued operational success.
MK1 Sheffield is the bedrock of CAMPBELL’s Engineering Department and a leader who guarantees mission success. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, MK1!
