The final days of the school year were filled with laughter, celebration, and memories we’ll carry with us long after summer begins. 🐼☀️

From special events and classroom activities to time spent with friends and teachers, these last two weeks were a wonderful way to wrap up another year at Palmer. As we look back on these moments, we’re reminded of the joy, growth, and sense of community that make our school so special.

One chapter closes and another begins. 🎓🐼

We celebrated our 5th grade students as they crossed the stage at their promotion ceremony. It was a special opportunity to reflect on how much they have grown during their time at Palmer and to recognize the accomplishments, friendships, and memories they have made along the way.

We are so proud of this group of students and all they have achieved. Shout out to the 5th grade team for all their hard work and Mr. Butler, our music teacher, for helping them rehearse and perform their songs. We wish them the very best as they begin their next adventure in middle school. Once a Panda, always a Panda! 💙

Celebrating a year of growth, learning, and achievement! 🐼✨

Students in grades K-4 were recognized for their hard work, perseverance, academic accomplishments, and positive contributions throughout the school year. It was wonderful to see so many students honored for the unique ways they have grown and succeeded.

The gym was glowing, the music was playing, and the fun was nonstop at Pandapalooza! ✨🐼

Led by Coach Schmidt and the Related Arts team, students enjoyed an evening filled with creative activities, games, and plenty of opportunities to make memories with friends. From the photo station, face paint, glow sticks, and bowling to basketball, jump rope, hula hoops, LEGOs, magnet tiles, and more, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

A huge thank you to Coach Schmidt and our Related Arts team for planning such a fun-filled event for our Pandas. The smiles, laughter, and glowing school spirit made it a time to remember!

Some special visitors stopped by Palmer! 🐶🐾🐼

Our kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students were excited to welcome the Pawsitive Patrol dogs back to school. Students had the opportunity to meet and pet the dogs in the hallway, bringing plenty of smiles and excitement to the day.

We always enjoy these visits and appreciate the comfort, joy, and positive connections they bring to our school community. Thank you to Pawsitive Patrol for spending time with our Pandas!

Career Day was an incredible experience for our Pandas! 🐼✨

Thanks to the hard work of our school counselor, Ms. Bailey, students across every grade level had the opportunity to learn from professionals representing a wide variety of careers and industries.

Our 5th graders were honored to welcome Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones and a panel of professionals who shared insights about their careers and answered thoughtful questions from students. Following the panel discussion, the professionals visited with our 3rd and 4th graders, giving students an even closer look at different career paths. Guests included a lawyer, higher education professionals from CNU and VPCC, a toy inventor, and a member of our NNPS Plant Services team.

The excitement continued in the afternoon as our younger students met representatives from the Newport News Fire Department, EMS, USPS, and our city’s street repair team. Students had the chance to climb inside a mail truck, watch the street sweeper in action, and explore the fire truck and ambulance up close. These hands-on experiences created the kind of memories that will stay with many of our students for years to come.

A special thank you to Mayor Phillip Jones and our panel of professionals for investing in our students and sharing your time, experiences, and expertise. We are so grateful to all of our guests who helped our Pandas discover new possibilities and learn more about the many ways people serve our community. 💙

And that’s a wrap on our final Pandas of the Week for the 2025-2026 school year! 🐼🎉

These students earned this recognition by consistently showing what it means to be a Palmer Panda. Their effort, growth, responsibility, and positive contributions have made a difference in their classrooms and throughout our school.

Congratulations to this special group of students, and congratulations to all of our Pandas who were recognized this year. We are proud of everything you have accomplished!
