We are the Virginia Peninsula Chapter of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. committed to the intellectual development of youth and the economic empowerment of the African American community based on the following precepts: respect for family, spirituality, justice, and integrity. Today is considered Pi Day because the date, 3/14, equates to the numerical Pi equation, 3.14. To go further, today's date and year, 3/14/15, extends to the larger equation of Pi, 3.1415. To take it even further, today's date, year and time, 3/14/15 at 9:26:50, sums up the larger Pi summation of 3.14159265.

The march on Selma inspired us all but it is a story that remains unheard in our own community. Spreading the message and the story keeps the retention alive. It is seeing the bad that makes us appreciate the good. It is knowing the fight that encourages us to continue in our endeavors. We all have equal opportunity!

Here is a great and relative read for our mentors to mentees. R. Dwayne Betts was sixteen years old when he was tried nine years as an adult in VIRGINIA for his first-ever crime of carjacking. Betts spent some of those years in the worst adult prison facilities. Now released, he runs many literature initiatives and is currently a student at Yale Law School.

Teen, Akintunde Ahmad, has been accepted to almost all Ivy league schools. Having a 5.0 GPA and 2100 out of 2400 SAT score while attending Oakland Public Schools, Akintunde speaks on skipping a party to write an essay in which those he was to attend with were shot. Re-focusing our children can save them AND uplift them. What an inspiration in Bro. Tunde!
