Mrs. Schley’s class invited school and community members to The Tidbits from Time museum and it was a huge success!! Thank you to those who came to help and those who supported from afar. The kids created historical fiction pieces based on Virginia Studies, they did a STEM challenge to create artifacts, they created slides of background information, they made museum signs, and they even created a brochure for guests to provide background information!

Today Mrs. Schley’s class had a wonderful visit from the Hampton Roads Transit Planning Organization! They talked to the students about what they do and then the kids presented their projects that they’ve worked on ras part of their TAG curriculum. They did a great job and both presented well and asked great questions. Our guests were so impressed!

Mrs. Schley and Mrs. Schmid’s classes had a great time reading together today! What a great way to celebrate the first graders’ amazing reading growth and the awesome work Mrs. Schley’s class did on the reading SOL!
After they read together they also had some time to build and play, which was so needed and fun!!

👉 Volunteers for this session should arrive at 9:15 AM to help set up stations!

🔴 3rd – 5th Grade: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Today we had Muffins with Mom thanks to our amazing Newport News Public Schools Family and Community Engagement specialist and our dear friends at First Baptist Church of Newport News. We loved seeing all these smiling faces and appreciating the mothers and mother figures in our Yates community that make our students SO great!
