Newport Beach Police Association

Newport Beach Police Association Proudly Serving The Community of Newport Beach Every Day With Pride The NBPA has a total of 163 dedicated sworn and civilian members.

The Newport Beach Police Association was established in 1974 to represent both the sworn and civilian members of the Newport Beach Police Department. Newport Beach has a population of approximately 85,000, which doubles in the summertime due to its numerous tourist attractions. The goal of the NBPA is to act as a liaison between its members and management. In addition, the Board conducts contract

negotiations; schedules department functions, supports local charities and fundraisers, and works to maintain morale among its members. The NBPA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and four Directors. The Board is elected by its members every year.

Halfway through 2026, and we want to take a moment to acknowledge the community that makes this work possible.

This association exists to stand behind our members and the families connected to them. Whether the day brings good news or hard news, our job is to be there. That has not changed in six months. It will not change in the next six.

The second half of the year typically brings the highest demand for everything we do. We are ready for it, and we are grateful for the community standing with us going in.

82 years ago today, more than 156,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel and stormed five beaches along the coast of Normandy, France. By the end of June 6, 1944, over 4,400 of them had given their lives. The largest amphibious invasion in human history changed the trajectory of World War II and, with it, the world.

Many members of this association are veterans. Many have parents and grandparents who served. The legacy of the men who landed at Normandy lives in the people who wear a uniform today, regardless of which one it is.

Today, this association honors them. Their courage was the cost of the freedoms we still defend every shift.

Share this post in honor of the men who gave everything on June 6, 1944.

Today is Memorial Day. Not a long weekend. Not a sale. A day set aside to remember the men and women who gave everything.

The roots of this holiday go back to May 1868, when General John A. Logan issued a proclamation designating May 30 as a day to decorate the graves of those who died in the Civil War. What began as flowers placed on graves eventually grew into a national observance honoring every American service member lost in every conflict this country has ever fought. More than 1.3 million Americans have died in military service throughout the nation's history.

Our members are working today, as they do on every holiday, keeping this community safe while families gather to remember. We do not take that lightly on any day, but especially not this one.

Share this post to make sure the original meaning of this day reaches your entire network.
