What makes this city special is you—neighbors who show up, community groups who roll up their sleeves, and neighborhood initiatives that turn great ideas into real results. I’m proud to serve on City Council, and I’m energized for what we’ll accomplish together in the year ahead.

Wishing you and your family a safe, joyful New Year’s Eve and a wonderful 2026, Newport Beach.

It’s always a fun morning supporting Operation Christmas, sponsored by Yellow Ribbon America to support our military and families this Christmas season. Thank you to our NBFD and NB lifeguards for making this program fun and festive every year. A big shout out to Andersen Elementary for collecting over 300 toys! Thank you for teaching your students about the importance of supporting our troops.

It was a beautiful morning to commemorate world-famous Olympian, surfer, and waterman Duke Kahanamoku and his courageous Newport Harbor rescue in 1925. Duke, along with several other local residents, succeeded in saving the lives of 12 men after their boat capsized in the channel.

Titled The Great Rescue of 1925, the commemorative plaque is located on Ocean Boulevard in Corona del Mar. Special thanks to Paul Burnett and many other community members for their commitment to honoring our city’s history and values—namely, coming to the aid of others in times of need, both in and out of the water.

National Night Out was a big hit! Well attended by residents of all ages, my favorite part was watching our officers and community members have fun and get to know each other better.

If you haven’t attended the Newport Beach Art Exhibition before, I highly recommend checking out the beautiful work of local artists! The Arts Commission works so hard to put this on and it was fun to visit with old and new friends. The band is great too!

We take a pause today in our national calendar to remember those who served and sacrificed for our country and our freedom. In Newport Beach, we are fortunate to have the Exchange Club of Newport Harbor and the Field of Honor to help us honor those who fought and died so that we might live and strive towards the American dream. 🇺🇸
