More and more I see videos of humanoid robots and the threat of AI taking over the human race. And I think it’s a definite possibility. I’m guilty of asking AI to write something for me so I can sound smarter, do it faster, get more views….etc, when I can easily do it myself. Think about how the human brain will evolve if we continue this path. It will become smaller, weaker, ignorant. We will be at the mercy of AI. I do however believe that AI can be useful, if used to improve our world and way of life without sacrifice.

I challenge you for 1 week to stop using AI for tasks that you are capable. I will join you in this challenge. Let’s see what our own minds are capable of.

Tell me in the comments if you are up for the challenge and what you’ll stop asking AI to do.

Doesn’t matter how many times I notarize for you, ID comes out every time.

One line in my notary journal. Date, type of document, notarial act performed, signer’s name, how the signer proved their identity, their signature, and a thumbprint. Takes me under a minute to fill out.

It’s why I go quiet while I’m writing it. I’m not being unfriendly — I’m making sure every detail is right, because that line is the only permanent record that a signing ever happened. If a document gets challenged years later — a trust disputed, a signature questioned — this is what gets pulled.

California law requires it. It’s often the only thing standing between a signer and a fraud claim down the road.

Just part of the job.

I was at a trust signing with an attorney recently, and his pre-filled out acknowledgment had the signer’s full legal name – middle name included. Problem was the document itself didn’t include the middle name. Two names technically, two different people, at least on paper.

If I hadn’t caught it, that document could’ve gone all the way to the county clerk’s office and come back rejected. Weeks of turnaround, gone, over a middle name. Not a disaster, but it’s the kind of delay nobody wants, and it’s completely avoidable if someone’s actually checking.

That’s the job, really. Not just showing up and stamping - noticing the small mismatch before it becomes a problem.

Working from home means the distractions are always within reach — the couch, the cats, the laundry, the gardening. Lately I’ve been letting them win.

That’s the habit I need to break. Not every habit is building something or leading me in the right direction — trying to focus on the ones that actually do.

Friday Reflections

07/10/2026

Spent an afternoon in a friend’s backyard this week. Good food, good conversation, talking through wins and struggles with other women building their own businesses and ideas.

Motivation isn’t enough. Habits are the action that actually gets you there. But who you surround yourself with matters too.

You get what you pay for. 🌅

I sit in traffic so other people don’t have to.

If you are helping an elderly friend or relative with getting documents notarized, double check that they have a valid ID.

A government issued driver’s license, passport, senior ID, or identification card must be either unexpired or issued within the last 5 years of the signing date.

If they don’t have an ID, 2 witnesses must be present at the notary appointment and must swear the following:

1. They personally know the signer.
2. The signer does not have access to ID.
3. The signer is the person named on the document.
4. They (witnesses) do not have a beneficial interest in the document.

The two witnesses must also have an unexpired ID with them to show the Notary.
