Welcome home, JJ! (Part 3 of JJs Journey)

Getting approved for an apartment is one thing, but turning empty walls into a furnished home takes a community. When JJ received his housing voucher, Coweta County showed up in full force:

Restart Coweta stepped in to cover his first month’s rent, rental deposits, and utility connections.

ReStart Thrift , Bridging the Gap, and generous community donors provided all the essential furniture, cookware, and linens for his home.

An amazing volunteer group from Newnan City Church spent their day moving furniture and setting up his new space.

And to ensure JJ could keep traveling safely to and from his job, Nathan & Jennifer Dockery and Sherrie & Matthew Roberts gifted him an electric bike!

JJ continues to meet with Jennifer to maintain his goals and celebrate his independence.

Thank you to every volunteer, partner organization, and donor who played a part in JJ's story.

When we collaborate, hope is restored and lives are rebuilt!

JJs Journey (Part 2)

Real life change doesn’t happen in a single day—it takes consistency, trust, and teamwork.

When JJ came to us, he had a steady work ethic, but navigating housing systems, applications, and vouchers was a massive mountain to climb.

That’s where year-round case management steps in. For months, our incredible Case Manager, Jennifer Leebern (who we proudly share with our partners at Bridging the Gap ), walked alongside JJ every step of the way. They organized paperwork, navigated waitlists, and set realistic goals.

In June, the breakthrough arrived: JJ was approved for an Emergency Housing Voucher! Shelter provides relief in a crisis, but case management is what bridges the gap to long-term independence. Stay tuned for just exactly how our entire community rallied to make his apartment feel like home!

***11 years is a long time to wait for a place to call home***

We first met Justin (JJ) at the NEST, our emergency cold-weather warming shelter.

He came in from the freezing cold, looking for a safe, warm bed for the night.

It was then, that we learned his story. After his mother passed away during his senior year at Newnan High School, JJ found himself without a support system. For 11 years, he navigated homelessness alone while managing an intellectual disability. Yet through it all, JJ kept working, persevering, and doing his absolute best.

The NEST gave him safety on the coldest nights, but JJ needed more than a warm bed for the night—he needed someone in his corner for the journey ahead.

This was only the start of JJ’s Journey to stability — stay tuned for more this week to see how months of teamwork changed everything!

🚗 HELP US TURN A DONATED CAR INTO A NEW BEGINNING.

A generous donor gave us a vehicle. Now, we need your help to get it road-ready and transferred to a client who is working incredibly hard to rebuild her life.

For more than 10 years, she has faced addiction, hardship, and generational cycles. But today, her story looks different.

She has been clean for over a year. She has gotten her daughter back. She is working two jobs. She is taking parenting classes. She is in therapy. She attends recovery meetings. And every day, she is choosing to build a stable, healthy future for herself and her teenage daughter.

A reliable vehicle could be the difference between simply surviving and truly stabilizing.

We are raising funds to cover the repairs and the costs associated with transferring the vehicle to her.

And we are incredibly grateful to Christian Brothers Automotive for generously donating the labor needed to repair the vehicle!

THIS is how we help stabilize our unhoused neighbors—one family at a time.

Through complete wraparound services, community partnerships, practical resources, accountability, encouragement, and a support system walking beside them every step of the way, we help families build the foundation they need to thrive.

Now, we need our community to come alongside her.

Will you help us get this car road-ready and put the keys in her hands? 🔑

Every donation brings her one step closer to something so many of us take for granted: reliable transportation, greater independence, opportunity, and the ability to keep building the stable life she has worked so hard to create.

💙 Donate. Share. Be part of her next chapter.
One car. One family. One new beginning.

*ReStart Coweta is a 501c3 and your donation is tax deductible.
