Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything to protect them.

Forever grateful. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

🐾💙 Yesterday we had a very special visitor stop by the police department — Beanstalk! 🐶✨

This handsome pup stole hearts the moment we met him. Beanstalk is as sweet as they come, full of love, tail wags, and plenty of charm. 🥹🐾 He was polite, friendly, and made instant friends right away.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will brighten your days and keep you smiling, Beanstalk might just be your perfect match. 🏡❤️ He is totally adorable and totally adoptable!

Let’s help this amazing pup find the loving forever home he deserves. 🐕💙

🎉🐴 Thank You, Newington! 🐴🎉

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the residents of Newington for your support in voting to bring a Mounted Patrol Unit to our community. Your investment in this initiative reflects a shared commitment to safety, connection, and forward-thinking policing.

With rising fuel costs, this program also allows us to get back to basics in a practical and cost-effective way. Mounted patrol reduces reliance on vehicles in certain areas, helping lower fuel usage while still maintaining a strong and visible presence throughout town.

We’re also excited to share that construction is already underway behind the police department for our future barn and paddock—an important step in bringing this program to life!

Mounted patrol offers many unique benefits to our town, including:

👮‍♂️ Enhanced Community Engagement – Officers on horseback are highly approachable and create meaningful, positive interactions with residents of all ages.
🌳 Improved Access – Horses allow officers to patrol areas that are difficult to reach by vehicle, including trails, parks, and wooded spaces.
👀 Increased Visibility – Mounted officers provide a natural elevated vantage point, improving observation and deterrence.
🤝 Stronger Community Trust – The presence of mounted patrol fosters conversations and connections that strengthen relationships between officers and the public.
🚨 Effective Crowd Management – Horses are a valuable asset during large events, helping maintain safety in a calm and controlled manner.

We are excited to begin this next chapter and build a Mounted Patrol Unit that will serve and protect Newington with pride. Thank you again for your continued support!

**Vehicle Inspection Law Update**

Following in the footsteps of the Hampstead, NH Police Department, the Newington Police Department would like to provide an update regarding New Hampshire’s vehicle inspection law.

Recently, a federal judge issued a temporary injunction on the law, stopping the State of New Hampshire from doing away with vehicle inspections at this time. Due to the ongoing legal process and the current uncertainty surrounding the law, it remains convoluted and subject to change.

At this time, Newington Police officers will continue to stop vehicles that are deemed unsafe or pose a danger to the public. However, our officers will NOT be focusing their efforts on stopping vehicles solely for lacking a valid inspection sticker. Officers will continue to use their discretion and will be directing enforcement efforts toward other public safety priorities.

This does not mean that we are encouraging anyone to ignore the law. We strongly encourage all residents and visitors to continue having their vehicles inspected and maintained by a certified mechanic to ensure they are safe to operate on our roadways.

We cannot say how other departments will conduct business during this current legal battle.

As always, our goal is to promote safety, fairness, and transparency.

We appreciate your understanding as this matter continues to work its way through the courts.

Respectfully,
Chief Bilodeau

We extend our sincere thanks to North & South Construction and the companies under their umbrella— S.J.C. Excavating, Portsmouth Sign, Exeter Lumber, and Compass Development—for their generous donation in support of our Explosive Detection K9 Program. It is truly an honor to have sponsorship from businesses that are deeply rooted here in the Town of Newington.

This support comes at a meaningful time as we recognize the upcoming retirement of K9 Augie. Augie has dedicated years of outstanding service throughout New England. Alongside Augie, Lt. Wood (who is not retiring) has devoted significant time, commitment, and professionalism to building and strengthening this program. Their efforts, combined with the forward-thinking leadership of our Chief—who helped pave the way for this program to become a reality—have set a high standard and created a lasting impact on public safety within our community.

As our K9 Program is entirely donation-based, the generosity of community partners like North & South Construction has been instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition to our next K9 team. We are proud to welcome Officer Hume and K9 Twix, who graduated earlier this month and will now take over the Explosive Detection K9 Program.

This program would not be possible without the continued support of our community and the vision and commitment of our department’s leadership. We are deeply grateful for the partnership, trust, and support shown by our local businesses, and we thank you for helping us continue this vital mission.
