Today the Office of Governor Ned Lamont has activated extreme hot weather protocol of the year until 6 PM on Sunday, June 14. We're expecting heat in the 90s all over CT this weekend, which means vehicles could become deadly. Always and NEVER leave a child in a car. More info on hot cars: Where's Baby? Together, we can . Not only is walking on railroad tracks dangerous, it’s also illegal. Join us this in promoting rail safety by sharing this message and spreading awareness.

06/09/2026

Today is International Level Crossing Awareness Day and CTDOT, Amtrak police, and local law enforcement came together to spread the word about railroad safety. Follow these simple rules to stay safe:

-If the rail crossing lights are flashing, DO NOT CROSS
-If the crossing gate is moving up or down, DO NOT CROSS
-Stop at the white line before the tracks

If your vehicle gets stuck on the tracks, IMMEDIATELY get as far away as you can and call the phone number on the blue sign so operators can stop the train as quickly as possible.
