As the YMCA of Greater Seattle celebrates 150 years of strengthening our community, we’re proud to recognize the dedicated people who make our mission come to life every day.

Meet Sarah Santos, our Aquatics Lead and Swim Instructor. 🏊👏

Sarah has been part of the Y for six years, creating meaningful connections and helping make the pool a place where kids feel confident, supported, and excited to learn. What she loves most about being part of the YMCA is working alongside coworkers who lift her spirits and inspire her every day.

Through her role in Aquatics, Sarah helps children develop an important life skill: learning how to swim. She finds joy in watching their confidence grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and seeing the excitement on their faces as they learn and make progress in the water.
From teaching the next generation of swimmers to supporting her team, Sarah brings dedication, encouragement, and heart to the YMCA community. Her commitment helps ensure that every child has the opportunity to feel safe, capable, and successful in the pool.

Through the Y Social Impact Center Caregiver Support Program, families receive practical resources, guidance, and connection as they navigate foster care. And in just two years, the program has grown to support 59 families and 83 youth across South King County.

Meet Erick Marin-Ochoa👏🎉
Membership Representative, Coal Creek Y

Erick has spent the past two years welcoming members and building connections throughout the Y. One of the most rewarding parts of his role is meeting new people, learning about their cultures, and appreciating the languages and traditions that make our community unique.

The Y has been part of Erick’s life since he was 13 years old. Today, his entire family stays connected and active, participating in group exercise classes, pickleball, and Zumba.
From his professional work at the front desk to his family’s enthusiastic involvement, Erick represents the community, belonging, and connection at the heart of the Y.

Program registration for most November and December programs opens on Saturday, August 15 at 6:00 am for Y members and August 22 for community members.
