🐾 A little mea culpa from Newcastle Animal Control… 🐾

We’re pretty good at caring for dogs, cats, and the occasional unexpected critter.

Credit card machines? Apparently… not quite as much. 😬

About a week ago, we discovered our machine had missed an important behind-the-scenes step. Our helpful IT guy pushed a few buttons and produced a receipt roughly the length of a pharmacy receipt when you buy one stick of gum.

Problem solved!

Except some credit card transactions going all the way back to November 2025 only just now processed.

So if you recently saw a Newcastle Animal Control charge and thought, “Wait… didn’t I adopt Fluffy months ago?” — yes. You probably did.

We promise we weren’t suddenly charging for backdated belly rubs, treats, or puppy kisses. 🐶🐱

This was our mistake, and we sincerely apologize for the surprise. The issue is now permanently fixed.

And thank you to everyone who has adopted, donated, supported our shelter, and helped our animals find their forever homes.

Our IT guy is probably hoping we never let the animals near the credit card machine. 😉

Not at shelter but needs rehomed

Hello! This is Angel and she just turned a year old. She’s good with other dogs, and good with kids. She gets a little excited and starts to jump up sometimes, but is still very gentle.

She’s definitely a mixed breed. But pointer/lab mix from what we were told. She is crate trained, and mostly potty trained but has spent a lot of time outside.

A lot can happen in a year, think of all the things you've done since last August. Socks has been patiently waiting for a new home for nearly that long, this Wednesday, September 2nd, will mark a full year at the shelter. 365 days. This wonderful girl can't understand why she is still waiting, she should have been out there doing all sorts of fun things with a family. Could you be the one to get her out of here before she it's that ominous 365 days? Just to clarify she is not in danger with us, she can stay as long as she needs to, but our hearts break for this amazing girl. She's good with other dogs, she just likes to be the boss and will give gentle corrections if another dog is challenging that, she's good with kids and is learning not to jump on them, she even ignores our shelter cat and lets him have his space.
She recently completed a board and train program and they had wonderful things to say! She is super smart and loves to work! Her very favorite thing to do is play in the water, she would be the perfect lake dog and still love her doggie pool at home!
