Future leaders in the house! Hazelwood Elementary's second graders visited City Hall last week for their annual community field trip, and they came with BIG questions for Mayor Sherlock and Chief Mandella.

The highlight? Putting democracy into action! Students voted on volunteer t-shirt colors and dessert vendors for this summer's events. Democracy never tasted so good. 🍦🍧🍩

Thank you to Hazelwood's students, teachers, and chaperones for stopping by to learn what we do here at City Hall.

Thanks for the reminder, Bellevue Fire! Fireworks are also prohibited in the City of Newcastle.

Instead, come on out to Lake Boren Park on Thursday, July 2 for Fireworks on the Lake! Save the date: newcastlewa.gov/event/fireworks-on-the-lake/

As we get closer to celebrating Independence Day, Bellevue Fire and Bellevue, WA Police Department want to remind everyone that the use and sale of fireworks are not allowed within the City of Bellevue.

We are so fortunate that the largest fireworks show on the Eastside is hosted in Bellevue, and we'd encourage everyone to attend a public display.

Last Tuesday, the Community Activities Commission hosted a Pride Flag Ceremony outside Newcastle City Hall to kick off Pride Month. The event featured speakers, music, and light refreshments, culminating with the raising of the Pride flag.

City Council members accepted a Pride Progress Flag mosaic created by community members at Newcastle Days, donated by Cheryl Smith Mosaics and Eastside Pride PNW. A Pride Month Proclamation was also read and presented at the City Council meeting that evening.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate! 🏳️‍🌈
