Did you know that many sleep-related infant tragedies are preventable? 👶✨

Newburgh Volunteer Fire Department is proud to share that the Warrick county coroner's office has officially become a certified **Safe Sleep Ambassador** through Cribs for Kids! 🎓❤️

**What is a Safe Sleep Ambassador?**
In this role, the deputy coroner's serve as a trained community advocate dedicated to infant safety. They have completed evidence-based training on the latest safety guidelines to help parents, grandparents, and caregivers create the absolute safest sleep environments for their little ones.

Their goal is to be a helpful, judgment-free resource for families in our community. Whether you are expecting your first baby, welcoming a grandchild, or providing childcare, They are here to share life-saving information, tips, and official resources.

🚧 PUBLIC NOTICE: TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION – WATER STREET 🚧

A small sinkhole has started to develop along Water Street, just east of the entrance to the Marida Restaurant parking lot.

For public safety, Water Street will be closed from the intersection of State Street west to just east of the Marida parking lot access until Town crews can assess the issue. Due to the holiday weekend, the next update will most likely be Tuesday, September 8.

🚗 ACCESS TO MARIDA:
The Marida Restaurant parking lot remains accessible from Jennings Street. Turn south between Cafe Arazu and Cleo’s Bakery to access the parking lot.

🅿️ NO PARKING:
Parking will not be permitted along Water Street from State Street to just east of the Marida parking lot access during the closure.

🏘️ DOWNTOWN REMAINS OPEN!
Downtown businesses, restaurants, residences, and government buildings remain accessible. We encourage everyone to continue supporting our downtown businesses while crews work to address the issue.

entire area.

● Daily heat index values of 103°-109° are expected.

● Humidity values will remain lower than the previous heatwave;
however, actual temperatures will be higher.

● Overnight temperatures will stay in the mid 70s, leading to consecutive record warm overnight low temperatures.

● Heat headlines may need to be extended through Sunday.
