Youth Empowerment Center Community Based Youth Center in Newburgh, New York All hands working together to create solutions.

Since September 2013 The Youth Empowerment Center (YEC) provides a safe place from distress and crisis our youth and young adults often encounter in the City of Newburgh. The center is a place to have fun, to seek comfort and guidance, to learn new problem solving skills, to get educational tutoring help, and to learn effective life skills. With a minimum paid staff, services will be coordinated a

nd provided by volunteers and a network of other community based organizations. Our Logo reflects the fundamental approach that the Center will use to create a solution to a long standing problem in the City of Newburgh.

The Family Empowerment Council is a local organization that are advocates for families their mission to help people with diverse needs, to live in a safe environment where they have hope, and the opportunity to grow and achieve through informed choices. We strive to continuously achieve quality outcomes for each person while serving thousands in our community. The Pastor was awarded the prestigious LOUISE SCHWARZ CHAMPION OF CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH AND FAMILY VOICE AWARD.

Yearly, they have an annual luncheon to honor an individual who has attributes reflected in their mission and Louise Schwarz who was volunteer and advocate for youth and families.

This year the YOUTH EMPOWERMENT CENTER located on 104 South Landers in the Heights of Newburgh. The center provides community based services for youths and their families.

Pastor Deronica Austin, Executive Director of the center. Pastor and a corp of volunteers were honored by Orange County Youth Bureau for over 1200 hours of volunteerism. Pastor Austin was also honored by ORANGE COUNTY Youth Bureau for being an Outstanding Business Community Partner.
