How did Porkapalooza begin? It all started in 2010 when we needed to raise funds to keep the Newburgh Senior Center open. A board member suggested we contact the Newburgh BBQ Coalition to see if they might host a fundraiser for us, and the rest is history.

In 2010, the actual smoking was done right at the Center. Here is a photo of the original six-man crew from that year. Over the years, different members have joined and left, and some have sadly passed away, but their generous spirits continue.

The Newburgh BBQ Coalition has been the heart of what is now Porkapalooza, our major fundraising event. What a blessing this group of dedicated volunteers has been to the Newburgh Senior Center.

The Newburgh Senior Center had two great guys come visit us today. Chris Cooke, the Newburgh Town Manager came and had lunch with us and Michael Baehl from the Old Fashioned Butcher Shoppe provided lunch today.

The Newburgh Senior Center is very appreciative of everything Chris has done this past year to improve the Newburgh Senior Center. We have had many wonderful changes to the center!

We are also very appreciative of all of the lunches that Michael has provided this past year and having our board members come and sell Porkapalooza raffle tickets in front of his store. Two great guys! 😊

You could not have asked for anything more! We always love it when Michael brings his fantastic meals! 💕Thank you again, Michael.
