The Meadow Hill Road Overpass at I87 is back open!

On 6/4/26 at around 18:53 hours we were dispatched to a Car vs Pedestrian motor vehicle accident in the area of starrow drive within our fire district. Car 1 Chief Gallagher, Car 2 Assistant Chief Pillsworth and Rescue 323 responded . Car 1 arrived on scene and updated this to a Car vs 3 Pediatric patients with severe injuries to 2 out of 3. 2 medivacs were launched. Good Will Fire Department handled the landing zone, while Dan Leghorn Engine Company Orange Lake were standing by in quarters incase we got any additional calls in the district. Special thanks to Town of Newburgh Emergency Medical Services and Town of Newburgh Police Department with there assistance on this call.

Last week was a extremely busy week for our members and Dan Leghorn Engine Company Orange Lake responding to over 30 calls of service between wires down, trees down, motor vehicle accidents, gas leaks, automatic alarms, co detector activations, car fires and outside fires. Here are some of the calls below.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, we were proud to award scholarships to two deserving graduating seniors as they prepare to begin the next chapter of their lives.

These scholarships are made possible through the hard work, dedication, and generosity of our firefighters. Throughout the year, our members volunteer countless hours serving our community and participating in fundraising efforts that allow us to give back and support local students in achieving their educational goals.

On behalf of everyone at Winona Lake Fire Engine Co. No. 2, we congratulate both recipients and wish them continued success in their future educational and career endeavors. We are honored to support the next generation as they pursue their goals and make a positive impact on the world around them.

Today on 5/13/26 we had many calls for service.

At 0838 we were toned out mutual aid to Good Will Fire Department for a furnace on fire. Very shortly after we were returned back to service.

At 11:15 we were toned out to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Dan Leghorn Engine Company Orange Lake side of the district. Rescue 323 responded, while we were operating we were toned out to a second motor vehicle accident.

At 11:31 we responded from the first incident to the second MVA with injuries on Orange lakes side of the district. Rescue 323 responded.

At 14:38 we were toned out to a reported tractor trailer rollover on our side of the district on I-87. Rescue 323 responded and secured all hazards.

On 5/12/26 we had 2 calls for service.

At 14:06 hours we were toned out for a reported car into a building with injuries on Dan Leghorn Engine Company Orange Lake side of the district. Rescue 323 and we along with Orange Lakes crew eliminated all hazards.

At 16:30 we were tonted out for a Motorcycle vs Bike Motor Vehicle Accident on Orange Lakes side of the district, Rescue 323 and Engine 322 responded. We assisted EMS with patient care and we eliminated all hazards.

Over the past week, we have had numerous automatic alarms, CO detector, MVA, and brush fire calls for service with Dan Leghorn Engine Company Orange Lake

1st pictured was a head-on motor vehicle accident on Route 300 on 5/5/26 at 0007 hours. Car 1, 2, and Rescue 323 responded. We isolated all hazards.

2nd pictured was a rollover motor vehicle accident on I84 on 5/8/26 at 1400 hours, with automatic mutual aid from Orange Lake. DLEC Car 1, DLEC Car 2, WLEC Rescue 323, and DLEC Rescue 329 responded. We isolated all hazards.
