Recently, we were so honored to be a part of a back to school meet and greet at Higdon Elementary School! Our Fire Prevention Chairperson, Liz Murphy, was on hand with plenty of handouts and teachable material that saves lives when it matters most!

Thank you to Higdon Elementary for our long-standing community relationship and for having us as a part of this event!

Our commitment to our community runs deep! Beyond the calls, we are always looking at how we can give back in other ways. The Wayside Food Bank does amazing work in our community with their monthly food pantry for the Newburg/Cobb Neck area, and we are proud to have been partnered with them for the last few years to support their program!

At this month’s membership meeting, we voted to donate $500 to support stocking the pantry for those in need, and we also set up a static display promoting the “Get Alarmed Maryland” program through the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal! This morning, our President Andrew Spalding and Fire Prevention Committee Chair Liz Murphy presented the check and staffed the table!

This past Tuesday, we hosted a National Night Out event for the community. We are so thankful to all of our community members who came out to spend a couple hours with us, learn about what we do, fire, safety, and just enjoy some good company! Huge, thank you to the Charles County Sheriffs Office and the Maryland Transportation Authority for joining us!

Last night, the Newburg Volunteer Rescue Squad & Fire Department proudly held its 37th Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Banquet. We also celebrated a special milestone—the 25th anniversary of our Fire Division!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so memorable. Congratulations to all our deserving award recipients, and best wishes to our newly elected officers as they begin their terms.

We are grateful for the dedication and continued service of all our volunteers who work tirelessly to protect and serve our community. Here’s to another successful year!
