September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. πŸ’œπŸ©΅

As we begin this month of awareness, hope, and action, we want to share encouraging news with our community.

Since last September, the Newberry County Coroner's Office has documented a 58.82% decrease in su***de deaths when comparing the period from September 2024–2025 to September 2025–2026.

While this is a meaningful step in the right direction, we recognize that even one su***de is one too many. Every life lost is a son or daughter, a parent, a sibling, a friend, or a neighbor whose absence is deeply felt.

As we observe Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, let's continue to:
πŸ’œ Check in on one another.
πŸ’œ Listen without judgment.
πŸ’œ Encourage those who are struggling to seek help.
πŸ’œ Remind everyone that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Together, we can continue to reduce stigma, foster hope, and work toward a future where no one feels alone.

Today, August 31st, is International Overdose Awareness Day.

We remember those we've lost to overdose and stand in solidarity with their families and communities. Overdose affects us all, and it's time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote harm reduction.

Every person, every story matters.

Overdose is preventable. Education and compassion can save lives.

Recovery is possible. Together, we can create a future without overdose deaths.

Let's honor those we've lost and work toward a safer, more supportive world.
