Another voter question answered...
While campaigning I had a gentleman ask, "How much is a Constable's salary?" Imagine the shocked look on his face when I replied, "Zero - nothing." Now let me explain.
Constables have no salary. They are required to purchase and maintain their vehicles, purchase their own uniforms, leather gear and weapons, be bonded, and pay for their state mandated training.
Constables receive payments for each civil or criminal process that they serve (summons, subpoenas, writs, arrest warrants, evictions, etc.) The amount received depends on the type of process. The primary duty of a Constable is to serve process, per state law.
A truly working Constable can pretty much cover his/her expenses and hopefully make a few extra dollars. But again, there is no set salary for a Constable.
To be a Constable you have to be dedicated and sincere about serving your neighbors. I spent nearly two years as a full time volunteer deputy sheriff here in Dyer County and I worked hard on every shift and came out during my off duty time for a tornado, to be a storm spotter, and even to respond to a hostage situation. As you can see, I care about y'all. I even serve on the Millsfield Fire Department as a volunteer engineer. Your safety and peace matter to me. I have served the majority of my life and truly believe that this was God's intent for me. Each time I left law enforcement, God steered me back.
Since I am retired, I would be District D's FULL TIME Constable. I don't have another job to interfere with my Constable duties.
With over 27 years of law enforcement experience I am prepared to competently serve the community. I humbly ask for your vote and support, and I pledge to be the full time hard working Constable that District D deserves.
