Every child deserves the chance to grow up safe, supported, and surrounded by hope. Thanks to friends like you, that hope becomes a reality every day at the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Each year in August, we gather to celebrate at the Circles of Hope Telethon and 2026 is our 43rd year. I’d like to invite you to watch this year’s Telethon on Sunday August 16 from 1:00 – 6:00 PM on WBBJ Channel 7.

Thank you to all the early birdies that contacted us about this year's golf scramble. We are going to reschedule this event to the spring and our new date will be March 12, 2027. Please check back for updates as we are planning some new things for this year's tournament; you won't want to miss it!

Today I had the honor of spending the morning with the Practical Nursing class, at TCAT in Newbern. The class attended a Stewards of Children Child Sexual Abuse Training and learned the 5 ways everyone can prevent child sexual abuse. We had some great discussions about the practical application this information will have in the student's future careers as nurses. A big shout out to Ms. Creasy and the students in the Practical Nursing Program for inviting me to share the facts about child sexual abuse prevention!

Child Abuse Prevention Month is always full of events and happenings in the CAC and 2026 was no exception!
We had a great time last week at our CAP month CPIT meeting and hosting a CPIT Partner training with featured presenter Dr. Lisa Piercey on Forensic Medical Exams and their importance to the CPIT process. There is always something to learn and Dr. Piercey brought a wealth of knowledge and increased the team's understanding of how her work impacts cases, child welfare, and safety.
Thank you to our partners at DCS, Juvenile Court, the District Attorney's office, and all our law enforcement that showed up to review cases for CPIT and learn about Forensic Medical Exams!
It was a great way to close out Child Abuse Prevention month 2026!
