It is back to school season, and we could not be more excited. Here are just a few safety reminders to keep the young citizens of Newberg safe this school year.

🚸Slow down and stay alert, this time of year brings about more students on the road, whether walking, biking or driving. Taking extra care to be more cautious can save lives!
🚌Watch for those stop signs on the bus, once you see the lights flash slow down and give the bus and the kids plenty of room.

Stay Safe Newberg!

A heartfelt thank you to every change-maker who joined us at our Open House/Committee Fair last Friday! 🙏

It was truly inspiring to connect with so many passionate individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in their community.

As a reminder, Newberg has open seats on nearly every board, committee, and commission, and the time commitment is smaller than you might think. Just a few hours a month can make a significant difference in shaping the future of our city!

This is also an incredible opportunity for students! High schoolers and college students are welcome to apply, and it's one of the most empowering ways to get involved in your community as a young adult while gaining invaluable experience in local government. 🎓

Curious what's open and how to apply? Check out our website: www.newbergoregon.gov/bcc and take the first step towards creating a great place to grow! ✨

Hey Newberg! It's that time of year again - we're recruiting volunteers for our boards, committees, and commissions!

Why volunteer? You'll get insight into how your city works, and a real say in where we're headed. Whether you care about libraries, streets, development, or budgets, there's a seat at the table for you.

Newberg has open seats on nearly every board, committee, and commission, and the time commitment is smaller than you might think. A few hours a month can mean a real hand in shaping decisions that affect how our city grows.

This is also a great opportunity for students! High schoolers and college students are welcome to apply, and it's one of the best ways to get involved in your community as a young adult while gaining real experience in local government.

Hey Newberg! We want to keep you in the loop about something some of you asked questions about: a yellow tinge or cloudiness in your tap water. Our Water Treatment team noticed the water was more turbid (cloudy) than usual starting yesterday, and it's held steady since then, no worse, no better.

To be clear, there's no cause for concern right now and your water is safe to drink. Our team is actively testing to pin down the cause and get things back to normal, and we'll share updates on all our channels as soon as we know more.

Want the latest news and real time alerts sent straight to your phone or inbox? Sign up for eNotify on our website and you'll get a ping the moment we have updates.

📢 PSA: Scam Alert!

The City of Newberg has been made aware of scam activity involving individuals impersonating City staff to collect fraudulent payments tied to land use, permitting, and development applications.

These emails often reference real project details and use the names of actual City employees, making them appear official. A recent version claims an application has been recommended for approval, but that final approval is contingent on paying an attached invoice, typically by wire transfer.

This same scam pattern has been showing up in cities across the country, including Minneapolis, Miami, and Houston, so Newberg is far from alone in seeing it.

Please be advised: the City of Newberg will never request payment through email correspondence or wire transfer, and staff will never ask you to confirm payment by sending a wire receipt.

If you receive a suspicious email, text, or letter claiming to be from the City, don't reply or send any payment information. Call the Community Development Department directly at (503) 537-1240 to verify your application status, or stop by Newberg City Hall in person.

We urge all residents and applicants to stay alert and report suspicious communications. Your awareness helps protect our community from fraud.
