In light of the news that a school has banned an autistic child from attending field trips, I feel the need to say something about this. There are boys and girls that no one invites to birthdays for example. There are guys & girls who want to be part of a team, but they don’t get picked because winning is more important than taking care of each other and the value that “everyone can participate”.
Children with special needs are neither rare nor strange, they just want what everyone else wants: to be accepted for who they are!

Can I ask a question? Is anyone willing to copy and paste this post on their wall without sharing, as I did for a friend or parent? Thank you🥰

I have been committed to public service since I was sixteen years old and have never left my city. Throughout my tenure, I have delivered consistent results and built a proven track record that demonstrates my readiness for legislation and leadership.
My accomplishments include raising wages for security and custodial staff to $15 an hour; creating policy that officially added Eid as a recognized holiday on the Newark Board of Education calendar; and successfully suing the state twice to secure local control and increased state aid. I played a key role in developing the district’s uniform policy, supported the creation of new schools, and helped review and approve school budgets that directed more funding into classrooms.
Additionally, I supported the establishment of a new Newark Board of Education headquarters, fought for expanded social resources in our schools, and, as Board President, signed the official document that transitioned Newark Public Schools to full local control. These achievements reflect my long-standing dedication to equity, accountability, students and city success.
