CAN I RECYCLE THIS? YES, FINALLY! ♻✅

Yes it's true, we can finally recycle pizza boxes that have grease on them! Technologies have changed when it comes to cleaning contamination from cardboard and papers, so greasy pizza boxes can now be recycled! 🎉🍕

Leftover food, crumbs, and scraps should be thrown in the trash. Liners, plastic lid holders, and sauce cups should also be thrown in the trash.

p.s. Today is National Cheese Pizza Day - so go get a pizza and recycle that box!

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day SUCCESS!

Licking County, you waited many, many years for this event and we can't thank you enough for your patience! 689 cars came to our event on Saturday and you were all very excited to be able to dispose of your hazardous waste properly. We'll get a final report and share it with you soon! We were so glad to finally be able to provide this service to you.

Of course we've already been asked "when will you do this again"? Honestly, we aren't sure! These are very expensive events and we will not have funding every year. We also have other events to host (like tire collections) and we can't do them all every year. Keep following our page, as we will announce any and all of our events here first!

However, you do not need to wait for our next HHW collection to dispose of your waste. Environmental Enterprises - the company that ran our event for us - has a permanent collection facility in Columbus. You can always take your HHW there (for a fee) for proper disposal. They are at 645 E. 8th Avenue and the phone number is 614-294-1300.

Our annual Shred Day and Electronics Collection is coming up! September 19, 2026 from 9am-12noon at the County Highway Garage (775 East Main Street in Newark).

Please note, we are not accepting TVs at this event - please call us at 740-670-5125 for other disposal/recycling options.

Please don't be the person that apparently has incredible box-balancing skills! 🤪🙄

For real, please do not balance large boxes on our recycling bins! We do want you to recycle cardboard, but break it down/flatten in, then put it all the way inside a recycling bin!

It's that time of year again! 🌽 The Millersport Sweet Corn Festival starts on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 and we will once again have a booth there! We share the space with our CFLP Solid Waste District Partners, Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Recycling and Litter Prevention. Look for us near the famous donut stand for information about recycling in Licking and Fairfield Counties, and we'll have plenty of free giveaways too!

This box that held delicious, cold, ice cream treats is just like a cereal box or pasta box and can be recycled! Please flatten it and put it in your recycle bin!

Are you seeing some trash along your roadway or sidewalk? If you, your family, a group you belong to, your coworkers, or some friends want to clean up a neighborhood, roadway, or a park, we have some supplies you can borrow for FREE!

Call us at 740-670-5125 to borrow a backpack clean up kit (packed for 10 people) that includes safety vests, disposable gloves, and bags. We can also provide long-handled grabbers too!

Since everyone loves a cute dog photo on their newsfeed, we thought we'd throw it back to 2018 when Buddy The Shelter Dog from the Licking County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center helped us show people how to recycle!
