Halloween and Trick or Treat are coming up! We usually see a few plastic pumpkins in our public recycling bins this time of year. Please remember we do not 🚫 accept these in our program.

Plastics we accept are in the shape of bottles, jugs, tubs, cups, or clamshell containers.

Thanks for recycling right on Halloween and all year long! 🎃

CAN I RECYCLE THIS? YES! ✅ (But not in our public drop off bins.)

National IPod Day is today (it was first introduced on October 23, 2001), so it reminded us to remind you that electronics (of nearly all sorts) can be recycled! Our website has an extensive list of how and where to recycle electronics throughout Licking County Go to LickingCounty.gov/RLC and click on the "Frequently Asked Questions" tab on the left. Then scroll down to the "How do I recycle electronics and computers" section for more information.

HINT: You do not need to wait for an electronics collection/recycling day! So many electronics can be recycled any day at retail stores like Best Buy and Staples. Their websites are linked in the FAQ section mentioned above.

ATTENTION COMMUNITY WESLEYAN CHURCH RECYCLING SITE USERS! The parking lot is being paved between 11/2 and 11/5 and will not be available for use.

We will be removing the recycling bins on Saturday, 10/31/26 and will return them after the paving is complete. (Anticipated return Friday 11/6.)

We are sorry for the inconvenience but we know the lot at Community Wesleyan Church will look fantastic after the work is done. Thank you for your patience!

Please hold on to your recycling for a few days until the bins return, or you are welcome to use other nearby sites such as Flory Park (650 W. Church Street), Levin Park (1266 Sharon Valley Road), or Cherry Valley (2075 Cherry Valley Road).

Fast Food Recycling Challenge!

One of our staff members recently had some KFC for lunch. Some items can be recycled, some cant. ♻ 🗑

🚫 NO: Napkins, sauce/honey packets, plastic utensils, utensil wrapping, straw, straw wrapping, wax liner from the bottom of the box. These go in the trash. 🗑

✅ YES: Box (flattened), cup with lid attached (emptied and rinsed please), tub with lid attached (rinsed please). These are all accepted in our recycling program! ♻

Not too bad, really! Pay attention next time you get fast food and see what can and can't be recycled. (Feel free to send us photos, too, for future social media use!)

HARRISON TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS!

Did you know you can opt-in (for a fee) to receive curbside recycling through the township's contract with Rumpke? Curbside recycling is an easy way to recycle, as you just take your recycling tote to the end of your driveway and it's emptied for you!

We are so proud of these students for their hard work at C-TEC of Licking County, and (of course) for their impressive recycling efforts! Way to go! ♻👍❤️

One of the projects our ITEC students have taken on is recycling across our campus. We appreciate their efforts to help us stay on track with recycling and reusing items.

CAN I RECYCLE THIS? NO! 🚫

National Chocolate Cupcake day is on Sunday. Unfortunately this cupcake and its packaging was found in an office building's recycling bin. The half eaten cupcake, the plastic wrap, and the plastic package are all not accepted in our recycling program. This should have gone in the trash.

Recently spotted on a napkin during a Southwest Airlines flight. ♻ ✈

Two things to note:

1. Kudos to Southwest for using 100% recycled material napkins.
2. One of the reasons we do not accept napkins in our recycling program is because many of them are made from already recycled materials (whether they are a low or high percentage). Fibers in paper that has been recycled already (and is also quite flimsy) are not very sturdy and don't really make it through the recycling process again.

Definitely use recycled material napkins, plates, paper towels, etc. But put them in the trash afterward since they won't recycle again very well, and they are likely pretty dirty/contaminated anyway.
